bike is sitting

while i'm here overseas. My bro-in law got it in his garage. had a half tank of premium when i left her in2006/Feb 02. My bro- in -law starts it once a week and lets it sit at idle for 2 mins. Then shuts it off. He is not a rider so I aint too worried .Is this bad for the bike ,to have him starting it evry week? He is not moving the bike just getting it warm. It will be June b4 i can get back to ride....

Ohh. BTW . my bike is an 03 ZX9R Kawa. I have a little brother who rides , but he is working in Kansas , will ask him to get my ninja out and strtch it out a little in April. Thanks for any advice.

If it's going to be the same tank of fuel for a while, have him add some Sta-bil to it.

the stabil-izer thing sounds good, but my question is will it hurt the bike just starting it up and not moving it?

Nope... it'd be better if it was on jack stands, though.

the battery is not having a chance to charge at idle . have your broinlaw get a battery tender. other than the fuel stabilizer not to much else to do.

I was just thinking of it like a car... keeps suspension from being compressed, keeps tires from distorting.

if the bike sits in the same place for a long time your tires will develop "flat spots". Also a good idea to place cardboard under your tires as well to "absorb" moisture. These are things people use to tell me when I lived in Chicago and the bike sat up in the garage for 7 months at a time, so I don't know how true these "facts" really are. Anybody else got knowedge of this?
