im gonna try to clean this up some.. im on my phone so don't flame me for spellling errors.

your rear tire. if you have at least 50 percent tread it will be fine. the front I would probably change. get with either jon at south central race center or patrick at motorcycles unlimited for a new tire. both site sponsors.

there are 3 tracks in our area TWS (Texas World Speedway) in college station. msrh or mercedes benz in alvin. and grandsport outside of galviston.

check with the trackday orgs for their schedules and pricing. they are all site sponsors and all have intro trackday classes.

they all also rent leathers and equipment. some even trackbikes so just ask.

welcome to mh the search tool is your friend.

$120 for the track time and instructor w/ Texas Track Days.

Optional rentals from Texas Track Bikes:
$50 for leathers - I don't own a 1-piece suit

$235 for a bike rental: I'm too lazy to track prep my own bike. I also don't own a truck or trailer to haul it to the track. Many of the folks here on MH are open to "trailer-pooling" to the track though.

I'm a first timer. I'm sure the track regulars can tell you a bunch more and check out the sponsor section where all the track day companies have threads.

I appreciate the info, the rear tire is probably about 95%, but the front is two years old and starting to crack a little (very little), what I was thinking was to buy a front tire that matched the back, what do you think?

I am considering renting a bike because insurance dosn't cover it if you wreck on the track. Do you know it the rentals are quality bikes?

yes replace the front. get with either of the two I suggested as they willl hook it up.

texas track bikes r kawi rentals. kawi rentals has ninja 250s wich would be fun out there.

are you surre ins desnt cover track days? it is cnsidered a riding school not a timed event.

actually most insurance does cover track, its considered a motorcycle school. you're learning to be a better rider . i believe its only not covered if its a timed event (a race).

caligonetx already warned you, its super addicting. riding street after the track just isn't the same. i'm fresh off the track (the 2 day event at TWS (Texas World Speedway) this past weekend) and i can't wait to go back.

oh yea, welcome to MH!

I didn't think about the distinction. Maybe they would cover it.

Do you have the phone numbers for either of those guys (about the tire) or should I just look up the business on the web?
