Event ride/threads being moved to sponsors

I understand why you would want them there, but I had over a dozen people ask us if we could do a ride Saturday...

My only response was that Deano started a thread for that very ride a while ago. No one knew because the thread doesn't come up in rides.

Yes, we are going to a track day... but people are missing out on rides they want to attend because they cant find them. Even if the 'ride moved' link remains and is updated w posts on the direct thread that would help.

Just an observation I found from last night. Thanx.

The only reason I mention it is because my close group of people didn't know about the ride Saturday through the forest/TWS (Texas World Speedway). The only ones that knew of the 40 some in our group Thursday Night at HAK/Kilgores/Rookies were people on three other forums.

rides to trackday events are in essence, advertising that event. So it belongs in that section.

at its most basic form, those rides are to get people to get interested in doing trackdays.

I see both sides

IMO I think ANY kind of event should be posted in the EVENTS section. Whether it be Tejas bike night or a Ride to an Ride Smart trackday for parade laps, it's an event, there's a section specifically for events.

Very few look in the sponsers section anyway, I know I rarely do.

Yankees should be a site sponsor then. All forest rides end up there so it is essence an advertisement for yankees.

Exactly, and if anything, maybe post the details in the sponsors section and the roll call and general info/idea could be in the event section thread. . ?

Can threads be in two sections at the same time?

I agree that Parade Lap rides are an excellent promo event for the Track Day, but some people might just want to go on the ride and have no interest in doing a track day. Those folks will never see the ride if its in the sponsor section since chances are they won't be checking it.

I'm with Hooligan, I don't look at the sponsors section unless I'm looking for something specific. The rotating banner ads gives me a good idea of who sponsors MH (hint to the ad buyers: buy banner ads). I've bought from Motorcycles Unlimited based on their sponsorship.

It's cool; I was just trying to get the people together that would have ridden, including those that pm'ed me and said they were unaware about the rides also. But I understand the necessity to not clog the events section etc.

Thanx all. I'll keep spreading the word by mouth

+1 -
I missed the A* sale at Motorcycles Unlimited cause I didn't look there - oh well

I check events, general and off topic - and then the various for sale sections unless I just happen to notice a recent post in the sponsors section that looks appealing to me.

I would like to have event information in the events section even if its by a sponsor. Maybe more details under the sponsor thread - just my HO
