question

A friend and I were riding in a randalls parking lot the other day when 3 cop cars pull up to the gas station. When they are leaving we noticed only 1 cop actually left the parking lot. So me and my friend decide to exit out behind the back alley way behind randalls/target. When we head back there a cop was hiding behind the dumpsters. My Friend drives right by the cop not knowing the he was there. The cop instantly turns on his sirens and stops my friend. He tells my friend that since we were riding on private property he cant give us a ticket (which we already knew). But then he says If I catch you on the streets with that I'm gonna give you a ticket. Any ways The next day My friend was riding his bike over to my house and that cop pulls him over. Anyways he ends up giving my friend 4 or 5 tickets including no seatbelt ticket and other bs tickets. Just wondering if the cop was allowed to do this? And also what is the rule about riding on the sidewalk?

Sounds about right because it's not a street legal machine. And you can get a ticket for riding on the sidewalk . Thats why when i post up all these threads about street ride/runs only a few people show up .

sidewalks are for pedestrians.....you are not even supposed to ride a bicycle on the sidewalk.

as for no seatbelt, that's a throwaway ticket that you will more than likely beat in court.

but yeah, your friend is lucky he didn't get his fiddy impounded.

good luck, let us know how it works out.

well he wasnt riding on the sidewalk I was just wondering because hes scared as to ride streets anymore because hes afraid of getting a ticket. But it wouldn't have been near as bad if he hadn't been on probation so that really screwed him over. Plus his court day is the day that school starts up again.

sounds right to me...i was riding my buddies fiddy up and down his street in tomball and someone called in and complained the cops showed up, luckily the guy was kool...and he told me all the tickets he could/would write me if he caught me riding it on the streets again...no license plate, no brake light, no registration, no inspection, etc etc etc added up to about 6-8 total

the seat belt ticket is bs though

the other tickets were for no liscense plate, endangering the public or some (not too sure on that one), something about his exhaust being to loud to be legal???, no headlight.... But yeah I understand why he got the tickets, my only question was the one about the seatbelt.
