They are out there, especially if you are handy. Best bet is to let everyone
you know or meet know you are looking for a cheap bike. Needing some
cosmetic love is one thing but if you arn't handy don't buy one that needs
mechanical love unless you want to learn or have a really good freind who is
handy. That "deal" can outstrip it's value very quickly.

Ask "mamu_el_baju". He did the MSF class, bought all his gear, bought a
'08 ninja 250 that was previously "loved", rode it for 3K miles, fixed up some
of the "loved areas" on the bike and sold it for $500 more then he bought if for after buying the parts to fix it up. He basicly rode for free and made money.

If you are carefull and patient it is possible.
