its always the cars fault.. he could have been doing 200 mph in the on coming cars lane and everyone on here would say the car should have moved.. if the bike would have stayed in his lane and not tried to pass with the van that close.. they would be at home with loved ones right now.. he made a choice and it killed him... i dont feel bad for either of them.. they both knew the risk of what they were doing... its all about responsibility and now they both have to pay for their actions

There is only one lane, not two. The dumbass on the bike tried to pass two cars in the same lane. Guess what, if a car in front of you comes up on a slower car, that car in front of you just might try to pass. Also, if you do a track day you'll learn that it is the responsibility of the rider overtaking another bike to pass safely.

also if its the uk shouldn't it be kph? meaning they weren't going that fast at the time of the crash. maybe exceeding the speed limit a bit, but to say that no one on this site hasn't done that before is bs.

edit: Also what was to avoid at that moment in time, I don't think there was much that could be done, hitting the breaks maybe. But there was no given warning to what the car did.
Did you read the article? Do you realize that's a British newspaper? Don't you think a British newspaper realizes the units that England uses to measure speed on its roadways? On my bike I can select either KPH or MPH and I live in Houston.

It later emerged Bowden was clocked at a top speed of 156mph, but his speedometer had reached speeds of 170mph
That means they measured his speed without using the speedo

+1 Pretty simple really. You don't get to make a lot of mistakes on a bike.

+1 to what racer x said *see below*
Dude should have predicted the possibility of the car's actions. Instead, he chose the wrong path.
Sucks for those involved. R.I.P.

Pass a vehicle in a no-passing zone, or in it's own lane... never.
The faster your going, relative to traffic the more likely your going to get 'cut-off' because your giving the driver less time to see you.

Didnt even see them in the mirrors they were swerving and moving so fast. They passed me in my own lane between me and the car next to me. Every single one of them. They had to have been doing well over 100mph in medium flow traffic. What if I had to maneuver inside MY own lane to save MY own life?

Followed them and sure enough, they all exited 610, then Westheimer headed towards the Galleria. Fukc them, you ride like a fckin , you gonna die like a . No pity from me.
Same here dude. Ride like an idiot, then die like one.

These retards were probably the same people that almost, possibly intentionally, made me crash when I was headed N on 59 near the south beltway. Here I am riding North around 10pmon a 76 CB750, minding my own business, when a group of about 10 idiots are taking turns doing 70mph wheelies, speeding up, slowing down, speeding up, slowing down on 59.

So it's now Joe 's turn to do one, and the entire group slows so he can lift off. This one mother ****er gets right in front of me and slows down and I have to slam on my brakes so I don't rear-end him. Keep in mind that there's about 10 of these idiots on all sides. I hit the brakes and do my best to maintain control, stretching the limits of a 30-yr old bike's brakes. I didn't even have time to react with an expletive or finger before they sped off.

F those idiots. They'll die sooner than later and I won't blink at their obituary.
