Got my 06 636 a couple days ago!!!! Come on in here!!!

Hey guys,
I got my bike in. Its the black 06 ZX6R 636! I love it! I used to own a black/silver 05 GSXR 600 and i have to say, this bike is by far better than the GSXR IMO! Anyways, im loving the bike and i have ordered smoked flush mounts for the front, integrated tail light signals for the rear, rear fender eliminator, smoked puig double bubble wind screen(installed now), frame sliders, tank protector and a radiator screen so far. Im going to be ordering the exhaust, 1 tooth down front sprocket and power commander soon. I also need to get my rear cowl and i want the blue headlights and a steering dampner.

Heres my questions....

1. I have 270 miles on the bike and have yet to even get on it once. The factory break in sticker says dont exceed 4,000 RPM's for the first 500 miles and 6,000 for 500-1,000 miles. I kept the bike under 4,000 RPM's at all times except i when i get on the highway. At 4,000 RPM's in 6th gear, the bike will only do 48 MPH. Once i hit 220 miles, i began to run about 5,000 RPM's occasionally on the freeway just so i can do about 60MPH and keep up with traffic doing the speed limit. I have NOT even romped on this bike yet! Im wondering if the break in is really that important to do it to the full recommended term? Ive been so tempted to romp on it but just couldnt do it because i am a perfectionist and i want the bike to stay perfect. I dont want to risk messing anything up by romping on it before its ready. What do yall think?

2. Im going to be ordering an exhaust for the bike asap! Im looking into the M4, acropovic and the yoshi. Which exhaust would be best? I want something that will show nice performance gains and also sound nice and loud. I hate quiet bikes but too loud like when the pipes are completely gutted is also rediculous! I think im just going to run the slip on and s-pipe for the undertail setup and keep my stock header for now. Let me know!

I think thats it for now. It now has 275 miles on it and i have got up to 6,000 RPM's (70 MPH) once or twice while cruising down the freeway keeping up with my buddies but nothing over that! I did it very steady and slowly though so like i said, the bike has never been romped on! Let me know what yall think! All my buddies are telling me to just ride it like i want to but they arent as picky about their stuff as i am. I want to make sure i am taking propper care of my stuff.

Heres some pics from the day i picked at up and brought it home with 0 miles on her....

(since then, only things that have been changed on bike is that my buddy and i cut off the rear fender kit and made some homemade brackets to use until the actual kit that i ordered comes in. LOOKS MUCH BETTER!! I also have the dark windscreen on it and i took all the stickers off other than the kawasaki stickers on the tank because they are under the clear coat. I also took off all the cheesy looking circle reflectors the factory like to pin all over the bike. lol)

Thats what i was thinking. I can get the acro for $599.99 for the slip on and s-pipe. Thats not bad compared to what they normally run for. I may even be able to get a little bit of a discount. I just want to make sure its going to be loud enough to hear it clearly but also have a very nice performance and aggressive tone to it.

break in the bike like you will ride it. change the oil at 500 miles and again at 1k miles. JUST DONT RED LINE IT OFTEN AND RIDE AT CONSTANT RPMS!!!

ride the bike more before you add a sprocket cuz this bike doesnt need one. as far as exhaust, if you can afford it get the akra and power commander.

first investment are frame sliders, DB windscreen, and damper.

Got the same bike but red, I wouldnt even change the sprocket, Its hella fast as it is. I didnt run the outta mine either but i didnt follow the breakin cycle either. That bike runs real high RPMs and at 70 miles an hour your running 6500rpms. Just dont redline it for the first 1000 miles and you will be fine. Mine has 8000 miles on it and it friggen runs like a raped ape.

Ok guys, ill get the acropovic exhaust and skip on the 1 tooth down in the front. The only reason i thought of changing the sprocket is cause the guy up at cyclegear had a bike like this but his was an 05 and he did the exhaust, filter, power commander and -1 tooth front sprocket and it ran like a bat out of ! Ill probably just stick to the exhaust and a filter and the power commander.

Thanks for the compliment btrthnezr3! I love it!!

Sp i can pretty much run like i want to as long as im not raggin on it or takin it to red line until after 1,000 miles. I am planning to do 500 miles oil change and again at 1,000. Ill probably run just regular oil for the 500 change and maybe even again at the 1,000 change before swapping to full synthetic after that.

Thanks for the info so far guys!!

hey man, congrats. I met you @ ASI the other night. You can't go wrong with the M4, but definately get a damper for that thing.

I changed my oil @ 500 & 1k w/reg oil. Then @ 1500 and 2k used royal purple. I'm a bit about oil changes so I change it every 1500 miles.

m4 sounds like in my opinion.. also dampener is a wise choice.. id go dampener first then other mods.. why put money into exhaust and powercommander and k&n and a -1 sprocket and a speedo healer when your bikes going to look like after the first bit of head shake... ya know think about it all logically..

Keep the engine stock for maybe the first 500 miles or 1k. Steering Damper is a VERY nice improvement, expecially since the front wheel will leave the ground a few too many times. I wouldn't mess with the sprockets either, it's plenty quick as is and has no problem pulling to redline in 6th with a vengeance. Must do upgrades: Sliders:(I like the Woodcraft design), steering damper, suspension tune...

Other things: Clear alternatives front flushmount signals, integrated tail light, akropovic slip on, PC USBIII, jumper wire mod, BMC air filter, rearsets, stainless brake lines.

Only thing ive done to mine is license plate relocater from kawiforums and then flush mount front signals. We ran it like crazy today up to leakey, and got her pegged out at 185mph comin back thru Bandera. My opinion id give it to about 1500 before switching to full synthetic. Just my 2 cents. And a raped ape can run real fast when violated.
