Re-introduction...

I came on here a few months back and did this already...finally convinced the wife that sportbikes are cool :icon_bigg
Since my stang is lacking the attention it deserves, I'm gonna put it up for sale and use that money to purchase a 500 sportbike. I went and looked at a few new ninjas, but I'm thinking that I'll be better off, credit wise, if I can find a used bike. What other sportbikes in that engine range are worth looking around for? Also, what are some other local sites that feature For Sale ads?

Thanks a lot and hopefully I'll be riding wit ya soon.

if you are new and looking for a 500. the gs 500 by suzuki is nice. but if you want something that you wont want to upgrade later.. i would go ahead and get some sort of 600. but either is fine.

the ninja 500 or suzuki gs500 are good bikes. if its you're first bike i wouldn't go with anything bigger.

Yea, it will be my first bike, and neither me or my wife is looking to go fast/huge right off the bat. Unless I just find a smoking deal on a 600, 500 is as big as I will go for the time being.
I will be cleaning up my stang this week and put it up for sale. Then I will start looking more seriously at bikes.
Any suggestions for some local spots/sites?

i would buy for an individual not a dealer.. unless you want brand new.. a used bike dealer is going to stick it to you really hard.. i would start picking up cycle traders.. look through those.. i found a ton of bad deals in those.. also keep your eyes open in the forsale thread here.. ask around to see if what they want sounds fair... dont settle.. you dont want to pay 100's or 1000's more than the bikes worth...

if you are looking for a decent "new" used bike, that you are sure is going to be in good condition... I would go to Grand Prix Motoring.. they are usually pretty good.. ask for Evan or John....

figured I'd to the top this as I picked up a bike this past weekend.

it's nothing fancy, it doesn't go screaming fast, but hey it's two wheels right :P

Picked up a 94 Honda CBR 600 F2 in good shape by the looks of it. The fairings need a little work or replacing, but I'm not too concerned w/ that at the moment. Going to start gathering info on what I'll need to give it a tune up to get it running better. Seems to be studdering ever so slightly at high rpms. Thinking some carb cleaner w/ some 93 should help out there.

I'll drop up some pics later on tonight, writing this right before my class starts.

See you all out there
