Power Commander

Hear a lot of people talking bout the power commanders... What do you benefit from installing a power commander, and will it eventually cause problems on your bike??? Just curious

You only really see a benefit if you're doing other air/fuel mods and ignition mods (if you get the ignition module) and a quick shifter (if you go that route)....i haven't had any problems with mine, but I had to make fuel corrections for race filter and full exhaust....you also don't see much of an improvement without a professional tune.....figure atleast another $300 for that.....

When I had my exhaust installed on my cruiser, I was told for full performance effect, power commander & tune was necessary.
Might add that on cruisers without the power commander, you get backfire & blue pipes from the exhaust heat.
One thing i know for sure with full exhaust [ cobra, 2 into 1 ] & a power commander [ cobra also ] there is a real noticeable difference .

Yes, I could in driving just a few blocks or so on my bike.
Like you said , get the essential done tires, oil changes etc...

I sure there are more experience guys with sportbikes on the board that can give you more details about power commanders.
Some power commanders have to be mapped once installed, mine a Cobra powercommander adjusted as I rode the bike.

the PC comes with a stock map on it...but all of the generic maps can be downloaded right from the PC website. its really easy to "re-map" the bike if just using the generic maps.

you should be able to find a decent used full system for the 06/07 (since they bolt onto the 08 if you have the full system) in the $500-$800 area
