i do not know of the business at hand, but I just cant see how a motor could be accidentally picked up for another. i would think if two engines even looked similar, there would be MINIMAL identifying paperwork, or some kind of note/visual cues physically on the motor. OR even the owner saying "whoah, thats not your motor..your is OVER THERE.."

not trying to flame, but it doesnt make a lot of sense, to not ensure the right part is going to correct customer. but then again, i dont know the shop. could be a cool guy/business with a one time mistake.

not sure if i could do business with a company that doesnt have some control of identification (on the part ) for who picks what up...especially with high performance machinery. even a taped paper that say "JOE " on it.

+1

"Oh, just pick it up whenever you want it'll be sitting on the floor" is very convenient....until someone takes someone else's .

You've given the guy a chance, now you should report it and get it documented. I'm not sure if insurance would cover theft of an engine or not, but definitely get some kind of official documentation on it!

Exactly, not that I want to get all into this situation but it would be nice to know how something like a motor could be taken by some random person. I'm not familiar with this shop or the people who run it. Perhaps this shop is where I or someone else might want to have some work done in the future. But not knowing how this was possible to begin with, I would be a little reluctant.

If it was a case of having placed the motors in the wrong spots or directly next to each other and accidentally grabbing the wrong one. I understand. But that's not the way it sounded in the originial post or the thread title.

Nevertheless, I hope you get your motor back without any further problems.
