We had done one route and decided to do one more before going to chill at starbucks afterwards. Going down 59 North, came up on the 610 exit left hand turn which goes up around 100 feet or so, and 59 North directly under it. I was concentrating on the turn, and then when I exited and got back on the straight, I didn't see his bright blue HID's. I figured maybe he went the wrong way. I pulled over, texted, called, nothing. Texted him that I'll meet him back at our meeting spot, went there and still hadn't heard back. Finally decided to go back to the last turn I saw him at. When I got there, I saw his bike leaned up against a wall, a flat bed, and a police officer, and 59 backed up with tons of traffic. I figured they had already transported him which is why he wasn't there.. but I was wrong.

When I talked to the officer, he told me that they brought out the fatality unit to pick him up, which they only do if the person isn't going to make it or died at the scene. I was devastated, called up my friend who let all of his friends know and before I know it there were several people calling me asking what happened.

The exit turn is a dangerous one, it's a double apex turn. You turn in, then it gets even tighter and you have to turn in again. Either he panicked and went straight into the wall, or he hit something in the road. When I went to go look at his bike, I saw a bed post around 3 feet in length on the shoulder of the exit which he might have hit, causing him to lose control.

Never expected something like this to happen to one of my own friends.. It was tough trying to sleep last night, all I could picture in my mind was his bike leaned over against the wall, and then a shoe 100 feet below the bridge from where he fell. Hope he recovers and gets back on his feet. Many prayers go out to him..
prayers for a quick recovery!

I'm deeply saddened by the news. Chad was an extremely kind, witty and intelligent guy and that kind of fall is something we all dread happening every time we run over an overpass/interchange like that.

I really hope he pulls through.

Got another update from last night: 3rd CT scan went good. He started to moan a lot which is a good sign. Blood pressure is back up to normal. and his brain pressure is coming back down to normal. Still has a slight fever though.

Hopefully he makes it through soon, i had the same thing happen to one of my good friend about a year ago, exit he was at the 59/louisianna exit, a car cut him off, and anyone who knows that corner, knows it is a tight turn. Well he was goin about 75 or 80 when that happened and he slammed into the wall at the right angle gettin the front tire to ride the wall and sent him still holding onto the bike through the air, if you look below you will see it is atleast a 25-30 ft drop, and there is the highway, and then a median with gravel and like electricity poles, he let go at the last second and the bike hit literally exploded and he landed on his back, popped his shoes, gloves, and helmet off from the impact. Luckily he only had a fracutred pelvis, colar bone, and femur. He was in a wheel chair for about 1 and a half to 2 months then he was up and goin again. Hopefully this is the same case, hope to have him up and running again

man, i hope he fully recovers from this. I can't believe he survived that long of a fall and didn't get hit by a car on the freeway below. He's got quite a story to tell everyone when he gets out of the hospital. Good luck bud!

his dad just posted as him on rowboat

This is Chad's dad . . . please spread the word . . .our loving and caring son will probably not make it through this difficult time, so the doctor informs us. We are to be thinking of taking him off of life supprt system within two (2) weeks. The doctor said that he is pretty much clinically "Brain-dead", with little to No hope for recovery.
His mother and I are just beside ourselves, yet overwhelmed with how many friends he had to come by and visit with him. we are greatly appreciated in all of your thoughts and prayers for him.
This is very difficult for me to sit at his computer and send this message. maybe no one will get it, but just the same . . . thank you all for having our "Bobba-Lou" and your ChadMod as a friend.
