every time I see someone back up a ramp, try to cross directly over 3 lanes of traffic to make a left they coulda made by u-turning, or turn from a non-turning lane I get atomic. back in the day I penwhipped the outta people for this stuff. I miss that.

We were trying to figure out how it happened. We figured it was the motorcyclists fault. Backing up on an on ramp, causing a fatality, and they're deciding whether or not to press charges?!?!

he may have been on the ramp all ready, and looking left/slightly behind to see what traffic is like on the freeway. i.e. room to actually get in teh lane, without some car not wanting/giving him room to merge. this happened to me yesterday.

cager could have slowed down, or sped up and allowed me room. sad thing is that driver was fully aware i was right there, and maintained speed. wouldnt budge.

sorry to jack the thread, but the biker may have been quickly scanning merging traffic, that would be near his vicinity when on the freeway.

The rider may have been accelerating just when she started backing up.

Anyone who rides and depends on drivers for his safety is a fool. All drivers at all times are trying to kill you. Ride like your life depended on it, because it does.

If it hasn't been said yet, the news is now reporting that the driver has been charged with Criminally Negligent Homicide.

More likely they were trying to investigate and decide WHAT they can charge her with... and always keep in mind there may be factors that aren't provided int the news that can impact it.

Example: It's one thing if the rider was doing the speed limit and hit her while she was backing up...
it'd be another if he was drunk and doing a buck+

Good!

Although it is little consolation for the family I'm sure.

But the lack of a charge would have been a huge travesty IMO.
