honesty pays....somewhat. and PROPS to LEO

a little back story

today was my first scheduled "non supervised" 4 hour visit with my kids...havent sen them since easter (now there is no reason for me to be on "supervised" status, other than my wife was being.....i'll bite my tongue, luckily the courts are involved now!!!!!

the deal was that i had to provide a car (other than mine which my wife has where she is staying)..and two car seats (other than the ones my children have..in my car) my buddy was really late in getting back with car seat this morning.. so here was my plan.

get car seats at my house.
take bike to brothers house, in woodylands (from gunspoint) . (he cant drive he was in a car accident)
pick up his wifes car.
take her car back to my house.
install car seats
go to my ex's house, (humblish area ) pick up kids
VISIT KIDS..
then do process above, but in reverse.

so here i was on woodlands parkway going 90 mph on the "super sucka II" to get the car (in a 40 mind you).
whoops troopers!!! with radar gun in street!!! -T!!!
pull immediately over to screeching halt, just short after the patrol car. before they could even flag me down.

"you pulled over!... for that we just gonna put the ticket at 65. but YOU and I BOTH know you were going faster..but you didnt give us a chase! so im cutting you a break" ..."whats the rush???"

sir, you will see i have NO motorcycle license, no insurance on this vehicle no tags, and i was clearly speeding... i take any and all responsibility for my actions!

"uh........so whats the rush!??"

told him the truth, and that i have no job, wife has everything, car, kids, "the power" to call the shots and the only vehicle i have is this POS.. today is my first day to see my children, in over 3 months unsupervised... i cant be late, i only get 4 hours.....i have been riding 20 years, and last ticket was 6 years ago...inspection issue ..SIR"

he comes back... after everything checks out.

"thanks for your honesty." instead of going to jail, and impounding the bike, you were upfront and man enough to admit your wrongs.

"no license, and 65 in a 40...go see your kids, dont forget to go to court"

"YES SIR! thank you!"

that trooper was AWESOME! big props. NOT because he cut me a break, but because no bullshit, cut to the chase, without even an attitude, firm, and to the point, but not an ... i would gladly get more tickets if i could deal with LEO's like more often.

Nice post... Not trying to protect cops just bc I am one but people usually get tickets or get attitude out of a cop because they usually are very disrespectful and have a attitude for being pulled over... 8 out of 10 people will get away with a warning just by being nice, honest and respectful.... Trust me on this one

i agree!

i told him straight up, ...and explained that i am responsible for every infraction, and that i will respect, what he feels he needs to do about my charges.

it helped that i had my backpack full of divorce papers, money she spent outlined, that courts say she gets car, and that i was unemployed, etc etc..

i smiled, and said "it has been a bad year for me...but i am still responsible for my actions TODAY, cant dispute it!" (btw i DO have insurance, but i had the wrong bike insurance in my wallet at the time, and realised it and i did point it out to him, that i just sold my other bike that was same model,)..i could been in some .

he was cool guy!

Congrats on seeing the kids mang!!! My wife is pulling the same stunts with me. Luckily I found a pretty badass lawyer and we got it knocked form three months of supervised visits to one week. After that it is full unsupervised with even some nights staying at my place. Now if I could just sell the bike.... Also, good deal with the LEO.

i wouldnt say it was KARMA in this particular situation...just a result of trusting significant other with finances, and not checking as often as i could have. (because after 6 years of flawless banking, and my looking over her shoulder...she earned my trust)

whoops.

yo

i am glad to hear that it worked out for you hope the visit went well.

on the other side please do your self a favor if you get your license before the
court date they might dismiss that charge off of your ticket.
and on other note if you get stopped again on your bike with out a license for the next year it can be and automatic class B misdemeanor...
its a new law that they put on the books not too long age.. i will try to get the exact chapter and verse for all of you nay sayers but please be careful ..

vinnie

actually i take that back...

AFTER my marriage was getting stressed, i went to HR, letting them know that i have vacation time,(2 weeks) and that I needed to focus on family short term. they talked to my boss for me (HE was on VACATION at the time)..apparently we were too busy for me to focus on family, to take the time off...... and i got canned.

my wife said i was "immature, and irresponsible to put your family before your work" after we found out i was canned. apparently (now going thru the bank statement) my 2.5 ~ 3 grand checks every two weeks, was very near what was being taken out by payday loans. she got scared, cause there was no money coming in to cover her mistakes, without my finding out about it ......and left. taking everything with her.

Keep your chin up man!

I had my 3rd and final "supervised" visit with the kiddos today.

Funny enough, only person who could be "supervisor" is the mother of the Dbag that my old lady ran off with. Court ordered not to talk bad about anyone involved. Boy wasn't that awkward?

"Court ordered not to talk bad about anyone involved. Boy wasn't that awkward?"

YUP...know the feeling.

yeah, saturday, she was selling off all the kids clothes, playpens/ pack-n- plays, and all sorts of stuff at her sisters house.

when i came up, i started collecting items, her whole family was there."what are you doing??"

i told them....this is "OUR" stuff for the kids. if she has no need for it, then it needs to come back to the house. if she has "extras" of anything, it comes to me. i am not about to let her sell items off, then tell the courts, i dont have anything for the kids, when she removed it from OUR home..then sold it off....and saying i have nothing for the kids, when she TOOK IT ALL, and sold it off. (which is funny because she is currently under the court order to not sell anything off!)

i REALLY dont understand why i have to have an additional 2 car seats, when the ones we have for the kids are in MY CAR, at her sisters house. if the kids are somewhere, obviously the car seats are with them. why the F do i have to provide 2 MORE car seats (and additional car..when she HAS MINE)? wife gets me frustrated..but the courts, (and my lawyer) are frustrating me even more.

my wife does not understand what she is doing (i think) and her sister that she is living with is pulling all the strings

saturday was the FIRST day since she left me, she treated me like a human... her family all there at the garage sale when i got back (something MUST have been implanted in her head from family) cause when i got back "INST-A-"

I had to read this thread again...you sounded like Jim Carrey on Liar, Liar when he got pulled over by the motorcycle cop! They even did a tidbit on Family Guy on that same clip! Good job on being honest though...

i forgot about that!

its not that i WANTED to be honest..but he is going to find out way way or another...why provoke, and make things worse. MAN UP!
