btw, SNELL had a rebuttal for the motorcycist mag. article, searching for it right now.
no MSF didn't impress me. A couple of ladies fell off their bikes the last day (one during the test) and they still passed. You're telling me that's preparing people to ride? Gimme a break....:eh:

well if it;s not DOT legal, you can still get ticketed, it has to be DOT to be legally worn in TX, that doesn't mean it's not safe......just not DOT approved

here;s that rebuttal

k, going to sleep......night night.

oh yeah, alice, ownage has shown an ex. of a bad cheap lid, now your turn to show a bad incident involving arai/shoei , make it 2 since the arai ad is another + for exp. lids.....:laughing6

Walter's helmet was mentioned earlier, and you noted the outside appearance. The inside of the lid is what absorbs most of the impact. Im going to bed gentlemen, ill read the rest of this in the morning. On a closing note, wear your helmet, whatever it is and however much it cost, b/c it can save your life.

last thing, from another MSF inst. east coast

"IMHO it was written to be provocative and boost circulation. This theory is supported by:

- it's coincidence with a magazine makover
- the fact that the editors still wear Arai and Shoei
- the fact that they couldn't seem to find one critical letter to reprint about it
- the short shrift given to Snell in the article.
- the longstanding work and leadership of the Snell Foundation.

Although the possibility exists that everything in the article is spot-on, the possibility also exists that I am right. So I'm sticking with the nonprofit research foundation that's protected my noggin for thirty years.

Motorcyclist clearly has better writers than Snell. For my money, Snell has better scientists than Motorcyclist.:

okay, so we've been around the block and we are still pretty much without evidence. No source acceptable to racer x or snell has shown any difference between an expensive and an inexpensive helmet, certainl not for protection. as far as i can see it just seems to me that these expensive helmets are more % name brand oriented than safety. I base that on the fact that they have no Easy to find data on why you should spend 600$ extra and yet plenty of people wear them and i bet the majority couldn't give you a good reason why (or at least not 600$ worth of why).
