Yep sounds like whoever replaced it didnt secure the master link properly. If the chain and sprockets are both new.. just get a new master link and put it back on. Make sure you rivet the master link and check for good dimples on both sides so that you know it's secure. Not a hard task, but helps to have someone walk you thru it! PM me if u need pics of the instal.

Always replace sprockets when replacing the chain, they wear together.

JMO but thats a lil much.... you're a generous guy! if i didnt live 2.5 hrs from ya i'd be there in a heartbeat. fwiw a new chain is about $150 and this is only about an hr of labor sounds like. im not convinced you need a new chain tho

When you replace your cain did you ensure that it fits the sprokets they make diffrent sproket and chins like for instance i run a 520 chain and sprokets you cant just throw any chain on any sproket

When the chain was orginally replaced it was replaced by the owner before me I just obtained the bike three days ago.. But its going to be looked at by someone who knows bikes thanks
