What Makes It Clean?

I see a lot of bikes for sale on on MH, and it always cracks me up when when people say stuff like, "Clean bike! GL with your sale!!!!!" But more than the humor in the basic statement, I wonder what the "clean" means to people because I see some pure that people call "clean", stuff that's been repainted to a very low standard, modded with poor execution, and ridden hard, neglected and then put up wet. Surface rust? No worries, that's clean. A little oxidation? Who cares? That's clean. Boogered up plastics and broken stuff? Whatever, it's clean. The most ironic of all is when someone says, "clean bike" about a bike that's filthy with dirt from day one and needs a bath more than that stinky six-year old neighbor kid that always comes over at dinner time.

So, when you say it's clean, what do you really mean?

People always tell me to keep my eyes open for them a GOOD/CHEAP car or bike, I tell them thats 2 different cars, Do U want a GOOD car, or a CHEAP car, cause they aint the same car, My idea of a clean bike is almost always different then the other person selling it, I just got fuct today on a fuel tank for my gixxer 600, the add said clean, and it was purdy nice on the outside, what he forgot to mention the pic he took of just inside the cap looked good because he sanded it with sandpaper and then scotchbrite, how do I know this U might ask? because he left the old sandpaper and scotchbrite inside the tank, the bottom is WASTED, fugger, there goes $300.00

clean.... like not covered in ... being retarded pep boys ... something rather simple, yet still eye catching.... like when the whip was put together it was well thought out....
OR
A lift where you take a barbell off the floor and lift it to a position just above the shoulders. Often followed by the "jerk" where you then lift the barbell over your head.
Karen: "Sweetie, can you help me wash these dishes?"
Tom: "No. Grab me another beer."
Karen: "You know, it would be nice if you helped me clean once in awhile. I can't even remember the last time you cleaned anything."
Tom: " I cleaned 200 pounds at the gym last night. When's the last time you cleaned that much?"
Karen: "Well, never, but..."
Tom: "But, but, but...SHUT UP! And get me that beer, now, woman!"

i'm guilty of the 'good/cheap', but to me it means does does the condition actual value = $ to aquire and fix it. :-)

Get with the new lingo, Linz.

Actually, the latest trend is calling something that looks good "dirty"(pronounced dur-deh). ex. ! That new 1198 is dirty! Gotta get me one of thems.

Soo I guess calling something "clean" NOW would be an insult. Go figure.

Clean not in the since that they washed it, but in the sense that visually the bike looks to be in excellent condition. Doesn't mean much really, a pretty bike with a blown engine can still LOOK clean.
