Patriot Guard mission complete

today was an awesome day to be an American. There was a huge showing of patriots to show their respect to the fallen soldier. I have to say, when the people came out of the church and saw all those bikers standing in organized rows displaying silent honor, most with American flags unfurled and flying proudly it was a welcomed and tearful sight all in the same. I have never been prouder to show my respect and stand with these people. It was a truly moving experience, although I would hope the opportunity to serve never arises again, sadly, we all know it will and I won't miss the chance to show my respect again.
The family and friends were truly grateful for our presence and they let us know, even made arraingements at last minute to feed all 100+ of us.
I cant wait for the photos to get posted up at www.patriotguard.org, channel 8 news from austin was there as well as a local Fox affiliate also.
It was my honor to be there for PFC Tina Priest, as she was there for all of us back home.

forgot to say, there were a few sport bikes, a bunch of the v-twin non harley bikes also, those are getting very popular lately and I have seen some really nice customs on those as well.
two trikes with trailers showed up also. even people in cages that left the bikes at home showed, any and all are welcome to go and show support to the families.
you dont have to agree or like why we are in a war, as I do not, but I do heartily feel we need to support those who are involved and those who pay the ultimate price.
An Army brigadier general spoke with us today, he made it a point to shake each and every hand and then briefly explained, do not believe all you hear in the media, we (USA) are accomplishing a lot of good over there, he even said the army has troops in 133 countries also.
No matter what you believe, we (again, USA) need to support our soldiers, ALL of them.
I am an Air Force veteran and both of my sons are active duty A.F. at present with both slated to see some desert time soon.:BangHead:

so true, I passed one on the way home today and "annoying " comes to mind, I think he did a baffle-ectomy and it wasn't pleasant.
At least he rode his there and in the rain for a few miles too, I followed the pack from Houston (in my truck ) he was an Iraq vet

Freedom isn't free. If you enjoy freedom, remember all those who have served. Tell a veteran thanks. And if you disagree, you can still thank the veterans for giving you the freedom to disagree.

I need to make a few of these trips, but had to work. (read about the mission yesterday night) I am Air National Guard so I still try to do what I can... A fellow or two from my base might have went as I didn't see their bikes outside today, definately a strong force and is sad that such a "buffer" is needed. (ACLU, Liberals, Fruitcakes, all of them) Truthfully the protesters have no rights being at someone elses funeral uninvited, unless it be their OWN!

okay, but i just want to say that iraq wasn't posing any threat to our freedom of speech or any other freedom. i guess that goes back to whether or not you agree why we are over there, but still.... I don't think any war has really been about freedom (in america) since the civil war. the only battles over freedom (in america) now are fought in 5000$ leather chairs by senile geezers who don't know what the is going on, and that sucks. Anyways, I thank veterans for risking their lives whether it's because they are there to make a living, which I think most are, or they are there because they love their country, which most do also but without the pay i don't think 99% would be there.
