Fieldsheer is your best bang for the buck. Espescially if you have never been fitted for leathers before. You will want to make shure they fit properly but, still have enough room for your back protector. Which I would get a Knox while you are at it.

Brandon has done some crash testing in them and they have held up great. I personally own a Teknic Lightning suit with some crash testing and it held together great as well.

Spend the money on a nice set of gloves as well. I am a big fan of the Teknic gloves. They use kangaroo and kevlar in the construction. They held up great during testing as well.

for me, i had custom by barnacle bill www.racingleather.com, highly recommended from the WERA race board. $1000

if $ were no concern i'd go w/ www.vansonleathers.com $1400

dianese = overpriced
A* = overhyped

I would have to disagree on the Teknic brand. They usually need to be repaired after getoffs. Ask the racers at the track about Teknics. They may be good for low speed getoffs. I used their gloves for years until they came apart in a low speed get off in the grass.

Syed Leathers is what I got. They are custom made. No one else has some like mine. Paid $1275.00 shipped. They came with the back protector built in, and a speed hump. It also has armor built in. They have held up without repairs in lowsides at 90mph not to mention 20+ getoffs on the mini..lol These, Vanson and the Barnacle Bills are close in construction qualities.

Alpinestars saved my skin in my final motorcycle accident. I had no rash. and I got the suit for $600.00. However, there were areas that would need repair if they could have been used again. The leather is thinner. I kept these for the street only use.

Dianese is thin as well. I would imagine that they would be close to Alpinestars in the event of a getoff.

Now for the real nitty gritty...
All of these off the shelf companies have nice race quality suits. You will not find them in the stores though. The quality is like the ones from the custom companies but the prices are up there. The prices will surpass that of a custom made suit. The thing is that you get what you pay for as in anything. Select a suit that will satisfy your needs. I would suggest going the custom route.

Hey Brian, The top of the line Teknic suits seem to be of good quality now days. I had several get offs in mine last year (TMGP) including my T1/T2 TWS (Texas World Speedway) incident (big bike) with no real problems. Of course we are talking about the higher end suit. I really like the way they do the armor and padding too. Just my 2 cents though. Kangaroo would be nice if I had the money to burn though. :icon_bigg

i dont know i would understand it has been used alot since the time it was made... but if you buy a shirt and stick it in a draw then it should still be ok ...... and im not a pro, if i planned on tryin to be fastest on the track i would have spent alot of money. but i just want somthing that shall work in the event i fall on the track.. i check the seams and the leather they are pretty sturdy to me.. its from the 80's... i might get 2 more suits this week.
