Downtown Photos Inquiry

I was waiting for Justine @ the PD near downtown and found this nifty spot for a nice shot of bikes + downtown background. I know of Sabine bridge shot as well, but any others? Just curious cuz search feature didn't bring up much.

Those pesky power lines. Bet it would make a great night shot with the right flash.

I meant for taking the pics with bikes in the foreground. Not sure how good no flash at all would do you in the dark.

Low f stop would be fine at dusk. 1.8 on a 50mm will blur back ground and then tele lens for better depth of field.

Good idea, but what might mess up the shots is that street lamp in the background. I was trying to capture some tail light trails a few weeks back and those orange lights were causing some ridiculous lens flare / glow in my frame. F street lamps I say!

You might consider a longer exposure and painting light on the bikes with a low intensity flash light. It's tricky though and takes some practice.

^Ooohhh, nice idea. I'm still exploring the settings of my camera. Tri-pod and wireless remote are on my shopping list -- I almost bought both yesterday @ work actually. Anyways, the day I wander around downtown and take some pics, I will also look for more spots.

I'm prolly gonna research spots throughout downtown, med center, and just Houston area in general for some nice dusk/night shots to practice. I've been wanting to do this for awhile.

Any other suggestions of "spots"?

No, no suggestions from me. Feel free to PM me though if you find one. I'll be back state-side the second week of July an am an amateur photo dude. I have a D700 and five or 6 lenses and a tripod.

Waugh, between Washington and Memorial. There's a nice park that overlooks DT skyline, area known as the clover leaf.
