Hey & Question

Hey all,

Just moved to Houston and I'm new to riding. Absolutely loving it - got my bike on Saturday morning and already put almost 350 miles on it. Took her down to Angleton on Saturday and then to Galveston today.

Anyway, I'm thinking of going to this ROT rally in Austin in a few weeks and I therefore need to get some saddlebags to bring my stuff. I was hoping ya'll could give me some advice about which kind to get. I'm riding a 2006 Yamaha V-Star Silverado 650.

Thanks, and good to meet ya.

For your saddlebag question I have the Cortec set for sport bikes. You can pick up a set of 3 bags on ebay and the tail bag works great as a single piece for when you don't need all that storage.

Welcome.

Like most everthing there is a large selection pending what you want and care to spend.

I bought some smaller soft bags for my Shadow, (but I carry luggage for just me) Mail order from Chaparral $ 70, also there is JP cycles , and JC Whitney, etc.

You might need a Saddle Bag gaurd to to keep them off drive and out of the brake.

Good Luck

Hello! Welcome to Houston and to MH!

Hope you find what you're looking for. There are lots of places online and stores here in town that will have what you need. And there are lots of ppl here on MH that can point you in the right direction.

I like www.motorcyclesuperstore.com because they offer free shipping on orders over $75.

Thanks for the link, Squoddy.

I'm looking at these small Fieldsheer Slash bags. Anyone have any experience with Fieldsheer? Also, do ya'll think 12 x 9.5 x 9.5 will be enough for weekend trips if I'm only packing for one?

I'm wondering too whether you bring your bike cover when you go places overnight. If not, do you just leave your bike out on the street / in a parking lot? What if it rains?

Put another 80 miles on my bike today, and I didn't get home from work until 6:50. I don't have a windshield or full face helmet, so the number of bugs that are out around dusk was a bit of a surprise
