your head is in there. get the best that you can afford. but dont feel cheapened, by going lesser price point. a "decent" helmet today, is hella better compared to what we had a few years ago. (old RF200 anyone??..or the laughable HJC FG6-S..which actually saved my life!)

try several helmets on. what you think "looks good" in the mags or internet, may feel worse than what you were expecting. sizes vary as well between manufacturers.

My helmet is Snell and DOT approved and I spent around 200 at CG.

Yeah I've read soooo many great reviews on it, the only complaint that people have is that they don't make enough/great graphic helmets

Not a fan of Icon personally, but the most important thing is: How does it fit? The most expensive helmet in the world isn't worth a if it doesn't fit correctly.

If it fits well and it's DOT/Snell approved, buy it.

+1 for Scorpions, love 'em

ICON sux.

Scorpion crash tests as well as the "elite" manufactors (Shoei, Arai, AGV, etc...).

Scorpioin helmets also offer some pretty good features considering the money they ask for them.

Make sure fitment is correct (can't believe noone mentioned that).

doesnt say what part of town you are on. you need to go in and try as many helmets as you can on. dont put it on and take it right off. if you think it fits walk around the store with it on. most places will fit you for a helmet. should fit the crown of your head without causing any pressure points. pads should be snug on your face. grab the chin bar and move the helmet. your face should move with the helmet. if it doesnt its too loose.dont rush to buy a helmet. do your research. webbikeworld.com helmetharbor.com sportbiketrackgear.com all have video reviews you may want to check into. hope this helps. also if you want to make the drive eximports on 59s between bellaire and fondren has an enourmous selection. cycle gear is right next door. or you can check out honda of houston and stx cycles on 290. they have a large selection.

Hopefully when it is time for me to shop for a helmet, Scorpion prices stay the same...I can sure see their prices going up due to the many people that realize their products are just as good as the higher end/price stuff
