Second gear is good in this bike. Never gave me a problem from 11k miles up to 27k. The miles are more like 28k if I remember correctly. I sold it at 27,700 I think.

Sorry for the long post..... but just wanted to post EVERYTHING I knew about the bike. I am sure there is something I missed. If so I will list it in a minute

The bike runs great, dont get me wrong. I just sold this bike 2-3 weeks ago and miss it. The miles are more like 28k I believe.

If you go look at it, check the battery. I had a cheap walmart battery (whatever the brand is they sell, Everstart I think) in it when it died on me one day in the middle of a ride. The battery is no good and everyonce in a while it had to be push started.

It does need the valves adjusted. It was due for it at 16-18K, but I never got around to it. Still runs fine, just gotta keep an eye on the oil as it burns some. It doesnt leak oil or anything, it just burns it.

The ducktape on the tail is there to cover the crack. When I sold it, the tape wasnt there. The tail isnt going to come off or anything, its just an eyesore. There is still 2 bolts that hold the tail on by the seat. So its not going anywhere. It cracked from the boucing of the tail after some of the plastic was cut installing the undertail.

The rear tire is GONE.... I know that for sure. Front tire will need to be replaced soon too.

The forks on it are from an 01 R1, as the ones that were there started leaking and I replaced them.

Not sure if he fixed the tail lights on it or not, but the right side taillight is burned out and missing the right blinker. From the pictures, it looks like it is still messed up. It is a rumble concept undertail.

The front blinkers are Greggs LED Flushmount. When the rear blinkers were hooked up the blinkers never blinked right, as they both are LEDs and it needed some kind of voltage regulator hooked up to make it work. I bought one from Autozone, and it worked for a couple of weeks, and then it broke as I never secured it in the back when it bounced around. Another one should fix it.

The exhaust is a Micron slip-on which Caligonetx cut shorter for me.

It had a habit of burning out the headlights, but I think that was caused by the battery.

2nd gear is good on the bike. Never popped out for me... EVER!!!. I had it on the track and it ran great.

The key for the rear seat latch is broken. the batter I put in spilled some of the acid on the key lock, and it ate it away. it will need to be replaced, if they didnt do it already.

The license plate is zip-tied on. Mounting bracket from Rumble Concept broke.... Cheap POS if you ask me. It didnt last more than 2 weeks.

I still have the mirrors to the bike in my garage.

The bike actually handled great. It was my street/track bike last year, and I loved it. I bought the R6 as I wanted something lighter for the track, and with less power...

Tojo,
Is your bike at Metric? I have never seen a Bimota in the flesh and asked Andy if I could take a look. The rearsets alone are worth 5k. Work of art........

with what cyrick21 said about the bike.. I would say 3100 max.... tires and valve adjustment alone will run you 700 plus set aside another 2-300 to get title transfered.. not to mention the little nickle and dime he has mentioned.. I would probably pass on this bike having between 4000-4500 into a 99 r1 is not worth it at all... he is obviously desperate to sell it he has 7 listings in 8 days... lowball the out of him

The guy that is selling the bike is not the guy I sold it too. Different name and phone number. The bike hasn't been sold by me more than 3 weeks ago. Odds are is this guy doesn't know anything that is wrong with the bike, and will try and BS his way through the sale just to talk you into buying it.

If anyone has any more questions feel free to ask me if they are interested in it as well.

Yeah. Well I bought the bike at 11K, so I am not sure if the person before me had it fixed. But I never had a problem with second gear at all. I was even waiting for it to happen to, because I knew it was a commen problem.

My favorite part about the bike was the color. I have only seen 1 on the road while I was riding. There aren't many out there.

I am buying the 09 R1 at the end of the year, but after I pay that off I will be buying me another 98-99 R1... I loved that bike.

That is it. Thanks.

I wanted Andy to go through the suspension and motor to make sure all was good and set up before I started running it. It had been sitting a bit and occassionally things can go bad when that happens. I talked to him today and it is getting closer. The report so far is everything looks good .

Sorry for the hi-jack...
