I would do maybe 3500 to 3700.. its carburated and has a lot of miles.. it will need a valve adjustment if it hasn't had one.. I got my 04 r1 for 5200 with 10k.. just a reference point.. but it would be a great bike

Offer 3300 and let him know you will have to get new rear tire, and possibly a valve adjustment, look at the brakes, air filter, maint. on the bike. Lety him know that where the rest of the 700 will go

miles dont mean anything if the bike has had a good owner who keeps up with it.. filters, lubes. ect. the valves are about the only thing that I would be worried about and patrick with adjust them for around 400 bucks or so.. cant go wrong with that bike dont let the miles scare you.. I had a gsxr 750 with 42000 miles on it and it ran just as good as when I bought it with 15000

i love the r1 dont get me wrong.. but for around 4000 I see alot newer gsxr's and r6's.. I know a 1000 is a 1000 but these newer fuel injected with lower miles is kind of something I would be interested in... just a thought as I am searching through craigslist right now

My VFR had over 60K on it when I sold it, it still looked brand new.

I just bought a Triumph Tiger with 57K on it. I would take either one of these over a low mile bike that has been in storage a long time if cost is the only issue. I will need to spend about 400 on it to make it nice.

I have bought both types and I almost always spend more getting the one that has been sitting up to speed.

The low mileage Bimota (not a cost decision, but one of ) I just picked up is having about $1500 spent on it to make sure it is good to go, and that is just getting started I imagine.

FWIW, I would say the R1 you asked about is worth 3300-3600 without seeing it and assuming it is in GREAT shape. That's based on late night CL and eBay surfing when I can't sleep, not NADA, etc. Of course, I try to hold out for a deal.

IMO no. 27k is a lot of miles, its carbed, and its as big as a bus.

FWIW I purchased an 01 R6, with 12k, for $3000.
