GP250: Simoncelli fined $5000 over Mugello move

Mad Marco slapped down after clash with arch rival at Italian GP

REIGNING 250cc World Champion Marco Simoncelli has been given a $5000 fine after what has been decided was a 'dangerous' move on Alvaro Bautista during the 250cc GP at Mugello at the weekend. Simoncelli said: "I have committed an error. I thought I had enough room to get past and make it stick, but it turned out not to be the case.
"It was not my intention to touch him. There was no room, he closed the door and I had to take action so that I would avoid him as much as possible. It was a normal racing situation, sometimes things like this happen."

Bautista added: "In one of the corners there was not much space but he still hit me and I had to run off the track which lost me a lot of time.

"I managed to make the time back, but I made a mistake in the chicane and that cost me the win."

Fine or not, it was a good race to watch. And let's face it, there's not much love lost between Simoncelli and Bautista, is there? So expect this one to roll on and on all season long.

no worse than superglue's on laverty except in the wet so they ran off

My question is, if indeed it was a dirty move, as determined by the fine, why didn't they also rule on bautista getting 2nd place?
