Your speed doesn't necessarily have anything to do with drawing a reckless charge. You can get a reckless for going under the speed limit. It's all about the officer deeming your driving reckless. There is no 25-mile-over threshold that I know of - in Texas.

I don't think Specher does criminal cases, which is what this is.

A reckless is a huge pita. Be thankful you're in Harris Co. A decent lawyer will probably get it reduced to a lesser charge. Like has been said, if you're interested in getting your CHL you'll have to wait 5 years after a class B misd. conviction.

Also, w/o a lawyer you're going to be looking at about 50 hrs. community service, $250 fine and 6 mos. to a year probation.

The lawyer should run you $1500 - $2000.

Deferred adjudication isn't that great either. You can get deferred and then never be convicted, but the arrest record will follow you forever - if you're trying to get into law/medical school, get a professional license, etc. you'll still have to admit to your arrest.

I hope I don't come across as a , but you have a GSX-R1000 as a street bike. You don't speed on it? Then why have it? Wouldn't you just want a nice, comfortable cruiser/moto/standard something else? A literbike is no good for much of anything but hauling .

i got one of those tickets a while back and was in jail for 24hrs. i paid $2000 for my lawyer and it got dropped to a speeding class C ticket. I paid my speeding fine and then it was all done.

So get a lawyer and go get it dropped to a Class C.

you will have to wait 5 years regardless if it gets reduced or not. After my ticket, that got dropped to a class C, they still denied me of my CHL. I appealed it and went to court to try and over turn but the judge said nope. I even brought all my paper work to court saying it was a class C but the judge didnt care at all.

^ yup. that's what I meant about the deferred adjudication - what I should have said - I got a deferred reckless charge - so I'll never actually be convicted but I still have to wait five years to reapply for my CHL.

just my .02
i gotta disagree man, i mean he says he was complying with the officer and all that jazz and being respectful. sure he prolly shouldnt have been weaving in and out of traffic, but whats done is done. all you can offer is enlightenment, advice and help. he didnt even call the cop a douche, fckin pig, or any names on the fourm, like i see many people do here. i believe riders who run from the popo, are the ones who make the law man crack down on bikers. but im pretty sure there are plenty of reasons aside from this guy here. live the life, make mistakes, and if it didnt kill you, keep living till your dead. thats all you can do

Is it worth to get a lawyer for this much money for this case. If i need a lawyer. What is your suggestion. Can you suggest me one.
