FIRST TIME ON A ROAD TRACK (MSR)

OMG had a blast. Buck Beasley took me under his wing for the day and gave my the 5 cent tour of the track. Im pretty impressed.

here is a 1 lap vid i made http://motohouston.com/chris/trackda...ckdayfinal.wmv

dont laugh too hard, it was my first time to ride like this. Got to say though, I have no strips left on my new tire

I might have ran harder if i was used to the track and didnt want to make a fool out of my self the first time out:laughing6

anyhow....cant wait to go back

THANX BUCK

cool indeed, glad you had fun and was safe.

awesome vid, was that buck in front, that looks like it would be of a lot of fun.
do we need to make a better camera mount or is the bike that jumpy?

That was me in front, Bucks mount wasn't really sturdy. But he's fast around that track!

Glad you enjoyed it Sol. Yeah that mount at least sucks. Helped Ty film his students today and he set me up with a Mantis Mount by Powerstands. SICKNESS!!!!! Rock solid and so adjustable you could probably shoot some of the sweet hand action you see on MotoGP for some study and wicked video. Mine's on the way, will post up the trial run with it. Hope to have some sort of date figured out soon, so stay tuned!! If I'd have known I was going out today I'd have looked some of ya'll up. Next time.......................

Where is MSRH track located at? I would like to try it out one day! Is there a certain age limit to race there?

I went out there and watched for about 20 min. It was a really big track but not really any place for spectators. I was just watching around the one corner thats by the parking lot where everyone was parked at. Couldn't really see much else than that. I'd like to go try it though. Do the instructors work 1 on 1 with you or just tell u some stuff then you go out and do it as a group?

i think it's mostly a group thing, but i'm sure if you need to ask for some 1 on 1, they'll help you out.

The Nov and Int. groups recieve a group lecture, then you are broken down into groups of usually 3-5 with your own instructor who rides with you all day. The lead instructor is also on the track and will give 1 on 1 to those who need some extra help. The whole day is all about you getting more comfortable and anything we can do to make that happen is what we will do. We also have the ability for 1 on 1 full private days for a bit extra. Very soon we will offer a more private setting with you and your buddies as the only students/riders. If you don't get the help you need, it will be because you didn't ask or tell us what you want. Looking forward to seeing all of you soon.

Looking good Sol!
A few of us were out there riding yesterday(03/04) and we had a good time too. It takes some time to find the right lines out there and to take the course at speed. I was enjoying myself alot more towards the end of the day though, and look forward to the next event at MSR houston. Ohh, and that track is easy on tires big time, I think my BT002's looked better at the end of the day than when I got there. :dontknow:

Still downloading the video (1.8kb/sec :o )...

Glad you had fun. I am preparing my Accord for MSR-duty right now. Here are pics from a thread I made on HI a few months ago...

I have some 60fps video (about 15 sec) of the bike going about 1/2 a lap...it's on my laptop though. If anyone can host it, please lmk...

It's a fairly flat track, has some long straight-ways, and the material on the track is what I would call excellent. I spoke to one of the 2 bikers on the track and he says the track is very smooth...no bumps of any kind.

I, for one, am very excited about this track. I am glad I took the trek out there to review the track in person because it has increased my desire to be a part of MSR. Whether that actually happens or not yet is anyone's guess ( it's expensive! But the track days are reasonable...$200~). It looks like incredible fun!

Finally, after more than 10 years of talk, Houston has a formidable race track.

IMO that track does not have long straights, at least for bikes. Im on a 600 and on the front and back straight coming out of a turn im on the gas for only about 5-7 seconds.

there are bumps and groves but they are more noticeable with bikes and not so much with cars.

Saturday was my first time on the track too (Red White & Black CBR600F3). Had a lot of fun out there and will be back in April. I'll DEFINATELY upgrade my brake system before then - turns 1 and 8 will bite you if you can't slow down quick enough.

nice photos ormand, well except for those with the accord thingy in them. The facility does look nice and I'm sure it will be a heavy hitter in the bike world soon. word is spreading and I hear its booking up months ahead. I wish I had a scoot for that purpose :-(
