HFD/Montgomery firefighter died yesterday....

A HFD firefighter died yesterday while riding his harley west of Montgomery, in Montgomery County yesterday. The rider, who was also a Montgomery firefighter, crossed onto oncomming traffic while in a turn in Dobbin, which is just west of Montgomery on Highway 105. The rider, and his passenger, hit the oncomming suv head on. The rider died at a local hospital, the passenger was transported to the hospital in critical condition. Neither one were wearing helmets. The occupants of the suv sustained minor injuries, and were transported to the hospital for evaluation. Our condolences go out to all those affected, including the family, friends, and the fire departments for their loss.

Its sad when first-responder types don't even have the sense to wear a helmet.

Here is an email I got from my friend. Yes it was her mom in the wreck. Please say a pray for ones that are in pain.

Mom went thru her 1st surgery this morning about 1am, which was to repair the most crucial fracture in her hip. Once they got in - they seen there was no bone left to put any screws -- it was shattered. Her femur that was jammed so far into her pelvic bone shortened her leg by 3 or 4 inches, they will do that pelvic surgery tomorrow, then hip replacement soon after which will bring that femur back down :(

She's still in SICU, they want to put her in a room so she can relax before these next surgeries, but are worried about her Sternum (it has expanded) & want to make sure it's not too severe.

She's lost blood & has had transfusions yesterday.

I broke the news to her yesterday evening about the loss of Brian -- I felt b/c it was the 26th & I know Michael was obviously guarding her during that accident, that I needed to relieve that off of me.
She's been asking since she got there Monday night - and kept telling me I knew something - I couldn't hold that guilt anymore. She in return, didn't take it lightly as expected...I had the Dr. give her a sedative to calm her down & after that she peacefully slept. I'm very hurt for her still because I'm still picturing what I went through, but being as strong as I can when she sees me.

Bryan, Tony & I will be attending his funeral of course, he was in my mom's life for the past 6 years -- this is all just a huge shock that we don't want to believe just yet!
