oem is usually dealer part.... try mancuso... get a k&n... lots will say it will make you lose power on some bikes, but its reusable and it will last u forever... the cleaning kit is cheap, and you will save cash in tha long run

you're right, I have heard that. So, I wonder what the real story is. A lot of people on the kawiforums say the K&N I should avoid and instead get the BMC street. Something about multiple instances of back things happening, but that might be because there were underlying problems they had or just a freak incident. Who knows ......Although, I want to get one eventually once I do some power modifications, I don't have any real use for those reusable air filters for now. I just bought a stock one in the mean time before I jump right into the race filter.

PM Mack at Texas Yamaha. He can hook you up and likely ship it to you as well. They are a MotoHouston sponsor as well.

bikebandit.com <--has oem and aftermarket

There really isnt much diff between a race filter and oem filter. They both do the same, filter air.

Race filters usually have less micron count. Which means more air flow. The more air flow you have the less micron count. Hence less filtration(smaller dirt particles are more likely to get past the air filter.) and no they dont bump up HP. You might see 1hp gain. Air is air until u force it into to the engine(turbo) then will u see a hp gain
