with lojack you would hopefully find the bike before they rip it apart. There will still be whatever damage that was done in the act but thats better then not having it back at all.

Lojack is the way to go. If I had a high profile bike it would be installed right away. Kind of like getting frame sliders. Good insurance. It baffles me how someone will buy a 10k+ bike and not spend the extra for it. I would factor this into the purchase price when buying.
