Fatal Traffic Accident at State Highway 6 at Briar Forest

May 22, 2009 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at the intersection of State Highway 6 South at Briar Forest Boulevard about 3:25 a.m. today (May 22).

The identity of the deceased female victim is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examinerís Office.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Casares and Officer D. Schlichter reported:

The operator of a blue Suzuki MC motorcycle was eastbound on State Highway 6 when he ran into the back of a blue Kia sedan. The impact injured the motorcyclist and his female passenger. Both were transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where the female was pronounced dead. The male was in serious condition and underwent surgery. The driver of the Kia was not injured.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the accident. The investigation is continuing with no charges filed at this time.

I hope this wasn't someone I know

Absolutely, bro! Always good to stop and help a fellow rider. We have to look out for one another. As you know, truckers can kill a rider and not even loser their license.

If a rider is down, the officer will ALWAYS presume the fault is with the rider.

Therefore, always stop to help a fellow rider. You never know, Karma is always right around the corner!

Glad you stopped and helped out a fellow rider.

I would file a complaint on that officer. Really seems like there are a lot of cops around Higway 6 lately.

The part that gets me is the "alcohol may have been involved." This poor passenger is dead because the rider was in no condition to be riding. IE hitting the REAR of the vehicle. That means he was probably going at a high rate of speed and either didn't see the car or was trying to squeeze through two cars. Either way it a sad outcome
