Just Bought a 96 CR125

Just gotta a 1996 Honda CR125...first dirt bike and two stroke I've owned. I got alot of questions already...I am a buy now ask later type a guy

I test rode it and it hauls but it wont idle...where should I start to remedy this?

It blows a lil white smoke, does that mean I need to replace the top end?

What maintenance should I perform before I really start riding it?

I do know alot about 4strokes as I perform most of my maintanence on my own bike but I am competely lost on this 2-stroke...

I actually found that the spark plug was loose and blowing out oil on the top of the cylinder.....would that cause the white smoke...havent really played with it yet it got dark and the skeeters were tearing me up

When you change the gear oil, is it milky or grayish? Come out and ride at South West Motocross. 2T are known to smoke. Just change the gear oil and make sure you mix the oil and pre-mix right.

Go out and buy a few extra plugs in case you end up fouling one out.

Not a good learner bike. It is a race bike.
Better to ride at a track than a field that is not set up for MX. I am still new in the dirt game. Come out and ride this weekend and I will be learning with you. Do you have dirt gear? Boots, helmet?

its a 2 stroke. a little blueish smoke is good. lots of white smoke is bad. mix it at 32 to 1 and you will be good. or just keep mixing at whatever the previous owner did. and change the oil and clean the air filter then ride lol.

bluish white smoke is ok....it should be thicker upon start up, but once it idles it shouldn't smoke as much. As for the idle, there should be an adjustment screw or , just like on a 4 stroke. Get your gear and come ride some trails.

that's what I was thinking. I knew there had to be an adjustment screw on the carb but I need to take a better look at it. After I change all the fluids and get some gear I will definately be hittin the trails
