Cool - do you have any advise on how to really make the old Hurricane 88" faster without NOS? Good luck on your bike bro.

For those of you who didnt hear or don't know. I did get the bike back on Friday afternoon. Made a couple of Motor Dyno pulls. Then made a N2O Pull, holy cow the HP numbers where awesome for the dry shot. Anyways went to the track and after waiting for every kid in the civic to make a pass they finally let us 12 or so bikes run thru. Bike sounded strong and felt great. I had no plans on ripping down the track. Wanted to get used to the new MultiStage and all. Made a 75% pass. Not to hard on the launch. Spun a lil at the line. About 60' from the end I felt the power go away. Looked back and seen smoke coming from the tail pipe. From what I can tell it dropped an exhaust valve. Ripping it apart today to see what happened. No matter what happened it shouldnt have happened. To much money invested on the best of the best. I will wait until post mordum rip apart before I lay blame. I will keep you guys informed.

My guess either a burned valve from too lean on the NOS, or a retainer / keeper let go.
Did you have OEM keepers and retainers or aftermarket? Were they new? Keep us posted, I'm curious what you find out.

Patrick,
I was not on the NOS. Actually the bottles where empty. Even if I was I have an MPS Instant Rich box that is all tuned and DYNOed to give the gas. I agree I think it was a keeper. I just had big time money work done on the head. Full Stage III and larger valves. Really nothing else that could have been done to a stock head. Either crappy material or faulty workmanship. I will let you know.

The pearls of racing my friend. These bikes are already built to be at the limits and have some durability left in but when we start pushing them further, they tend to have problems. You may have reached the limits so to speak.

It was was we thought. The keeper let go on one of the exhaust valves. Unfortunatly for me it took quite a few other parts with it. Messed the head up pretty bad. scored one of the cylinders as well. nasty stuff.

DJ, sorry to hear that.

I lined my bike up for the first time Sunday, I have never really romped on it through the gears. I found out from a dead stop, I run out of fuel by mid second gear at WOT.
This sucks so much fuel and the fuel line and petcock are to small. So i am doing a bigger feed and a deeper bowl has been ordered. Hoping it fixes it. sigh, seems like its always something.

that does suck for your bike .

kevin is right
:rice:
uh-oh, I know I did it now
nuttin but love bro
