just post the exact statute number.

and it doesn't make my bike any less legal. never been pulled over and given a polygraph on how whether or not the inspector performed my inspection 100% legal.

You lost me I staute number, but all it says is the state inspector must inspect and perform all tests. Now I can get a customer to help like when I have to make sure the brake lights work I can get the customer to hit the brakes so I can see the lights, but I can't hit the brakes and ask him if the lights work that's all it is, that's why dps let's the customer get away with doing the motorcycle break check

I've been riding for almost 26 years and have had 15 bikes. I have NEVER had anyone ride my bike to do the inspection. I get Stubbs to do mine now and never have a problem. I just park it, hand them the keys, drool over some new bikes and it's back before you know it. The last time I went, the guy ROLLED it into the service area.

Any Jiffy Lube can take care of it. And no, they didn't and I wouldn't let them ride my bike.

So thats why the dps instructors say the owner can do the brake test and we just watch and tell them what to do.
I was a State certified inspector years ago(1995) when they first came out with the emissions testing the first time and we actually had to go to school to be an inspector.

There was no law saying the inspector had to ride the bike. Now It could have changed but I see that as a huge liability for the state and I'm calling bs.

And If an Inspector asked me to ride my bike I'd ask them for theirs'. I'll let you ride mine if I'm sitting on yours lol you scratch my I'm gonna ghost ride your' junk into traffic. That should stop the joy riding urge LOL

I recently had a DPS official came to the shop to inspect and licensed us to do motorcycle inspections. There is no law that the inspector had to ride the bike to check brake. He told us let the owner ride it and brake from the marking points. If he fail then take his money. If he fell then it's on him. Just to release you from the liability issues for not riding it. It's all good but brake testing is a must and if the inspector doesn't do it, they will get a fine or lose their license. A couple of months ago, I had to bring bikes to other place to do it, some place test brake and some place don't. Now, I know who is right and wrong.

No one has read my posts, we are supposed to inspect everything on our list, but due to exact reasons you said about liability thats why dps says let the customer do the brake check. For the most part i always have the customer do the test, rare i even do it
