A cause close to my heart please read!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A cause close to my heart please read!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The following is about good friends of mine and CJs. They are very good people that were struck by a tragedy that, I am sure, not only has put an emotional and physical burden on their life; but a financial one as well. I am sure everyone right now knows a thing or too about a financial burden but one day you might be in the same situation as well. I just ask that you take time to read their story.

On Tuesday, April 22nd Amanda Cervantez & JD McCallister were riding their motorcycle, when a car rear-ended another vehicle causing that vehicle to hit them head on . JD suffered from a broken wrist, broken foot, road rash all over his body, and a blown out knee. Unfortunately, as a result from the accident Amanda had to be life-lighted to Herman Hospital, suffering from a fractured skull, hemorrhaging and swelling of the brain, a fractured tailbone and extensive damage to her kidney. She still remains in ICU at Herman Hospital in Houston, TX.

Joe Don (JD) McCallister, 23, is originally from New Braunfels but recently moved to Kingwood. Until the accident JD was working at Best Buy and has a strong passion for motorcycles. Amanda Cervantez, 19, is a very sweet, christian girl and is a full time college student attending Sam Houston State University. She is a Junior studying forensic science.

This is a young couple who were struck with an unexpected tragedy. Unfortunately it was a hit and run. The police are still investigating the accident and looking for the driver of the car who caused the collision. Because it was a hit and run and Amanda did not have insurance the hospital bills are piling up, not to mention loss of work, and the hardships this will put on Amanda's education, I have set up a paypal account which is set up to take donations to take some of the burden off of JD & Amanda. I know this is a hard time finanacially for a lot of you but every little bit will help. Doesnt matter if $5 or $50. Below is a link to an account I have set up in their names. You dont have to have a paypal account to make a donation.

https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/websc...ton_id=5115270

Not sure why the link is not working if you just click it, but it does work if you highlight it copy and paste it into a new window it works.

Man that is tragic. I hate to hear of your friends situation. I hope everything goes well with both of them. Might also try setting up a bike wash and meet n greet.

Welcome to our family (Motohouston)

sad case indeed

friendly reminder that the 1min to put on the helmet is worth an eternity

my gf wont ride with me cuz im such a gear on her she said she'd just rather not ride

this is why i dont let her on my bike w/o being geared up

she woulda lived if she had real gear on.

hope they catch the running who hits ppl and drives off

The guy has been riding his bike for 4 years. He never rides without a helmet nor does he let his girl ride without hers. But they were only going down the street and the one time they didnt wear it..this happens. They were only going 20 miles an hour. Hope this story reaches people and shows the importance of wearing their gear.

I'm sorry- but did you only make an account on MH to ask for money? I'm not trying to downplay your friends' accident in any way, but don't be surprised if ppl here are leery to donate. Your photos are news pics- anybody can get them...

No...honestly their story broke my heart and I just wanted people to know how important wearing their gear is. My boyfriend flipped his bike today and landed on his head. His bike is not fine but he is; but, he wouldnt be if he wouldnt have been wearing his helmet. Hey I totally understand if no one donates..that was not the purpose...

i feel you squoddybody, that seems a bit strange, 5 posts, writing up a forum you haven't participated in and asking for donations.

@ mosulloggie No offense, and the situation is extremely tough, but its not a lot for us to go on. i feel for their situation, but having a bit of a reputation and people knowing you goes a lot further.

Reading is fundamental. That wreck involved a Busa.
