track MPG?

what kind of mileage do y'all get when doing a trackday/race? Supposedly my zx-6 was dyno-tuned by the previous owner, but I can only get about 2 sessions ~45 miles before the low fuel light comes on. It runs really strong, but I don't think it should be sucking as much gas as it is.

that's what I figured it should be getting, but it's only getting about 1/2 that. At first I thought it might of been a malfunction with the low-fuel light/sensor, but it'll take about 90% of a 5-gallon gas jug after 2, 20 min. sessions. I think it works out to around 10mpg.

Hey Andy, how do the plugs look? Can't help but wondering if it's running way rich.

I've thought the same thing, my bike sucks through gas really quick at the track. This is the one time I dont reset the fuel odometer. I have a 1000 though.

i'm pretty sure it's running WAY rich...if you rev it up it'll blow flames on the over-run. I'm not sure why it does though...I even DL'd the power commander tune that's supposedly made for a full yosh exhaust and race filter (what I've got) and it still runs super rich. I guess I've just got to suck it up and get it tuned on a dyno.

Mine always got 90-100 before the light came on. Stock 636 with the jumper mod and a slip on.

You and I, both. I never got a tune with my power commander and full system; I just downloaded a map. I understand that I blow flames too that are pretty visible at night. However, I replaced the plugs and they were a nice cinnamon color, about perfect.

what's involved in doing the jumper mod? I'm sure the previous owner already did it, but is there a way I can check?

if I had the $, I'd get that Bazzaz tuner with the wideband O2 meter that tunes it as you ride. Supposedly, you type in what air/fuel ratio you want to run and it will tune it to that as you ride. I think it's around $1k though for the whole set up.

There is a 4 pin cnnector under the seat. Take the cover off and see if pins 2 and 3 are connected with a wire, staple, etc. . . I'll try to find a link with pics.

EDIT Here's a link. . . . http://www.i-hacked.com/content/view/165/88/

I was running the Bazzaz with the self mapper and it logs the data for you as you ride...you can put in say 13% A/F ratio and take it out a session...come back and see what it SUGGESTS you do to the bike. Then you have to key it in.

so around 80-90miles? that's way better than the 45 I'm getting. Was it dyno tuned or was it an off the shelf tune from dynojet's website?
