Why is that Patrick, I've neveer heard that one before. I've been getting a season plus out of my RK 520 chains and I would think that track riding is a bit more brutal than street riding. Curious........

The 520 chain has less tensile strength due to it's smaller size.
It also has less load bearing area due to the thinner sprocket and smaller teeth.
Also most street riders are not as maintenance intensive as most racers are so the chain isn't cleaned / lubed / adjusted as often.
This has been my experience that I've seen with countless customers motorcycles, where there is always the exception, this is pretty much the rule.

Thanks Patrick, so are you guys running the 525 on your race bikes? Reguardless of chain size F'nrobert, the gearing change will give you more pull on the low end for corner exit and acceleration. If it's your first trackday you won't need it or notice it as your mind will be full of all sorts of other things. Also remember that it will adversly affect your speedo for street riding.

Actually on the SV's last year we did run the stock 525 set up.
The 636's we're racing this year come stock with the 520 so we're using that size.
As it applies to street riders it's pretty much a moot point though.

As far as the speedo being off in most applications it can be recalibrated with a Speedo Healer, which we keep in stock for most bikes.

I've got one, i'll follow you or you can mount it on yours with HCS's camera. First trackday, you can borrow the mount but not MY camera. LOL I got one that mounts to the gas cap but it gets in the way when you go into a full tuck. Rock solid thoough.

I'll take you up on that offer Buck.
How do I know if it will fit?
I only plan on using it 2 or 3 times, and that should be after I've done a few runs. I don't want my mind wandering too much when I'm on the track :confused1

Robert.
Sometimes it's better to have someone behind you taping. That way you can look at body position, turn in, etc. a little better.

while that sounds like awesome advice, I don't see myself paying for someone else's trackday. Also, I couldn't ask anyone else already there to do it, with such limited tracktime and it's so expensive... just wouldn't be right. maybe after i've had a few (5 or 6) trackdays I wouldn't mind, but this is just my first. so concentrating on the basics like race line, remembering turns, staying on the bike (lol), is probably the most important thing.

Most of the trackday organizers offer someone that will do it for you.
