I called HotBodies, left a message. I think I can make a couple of custom brackets so I can mount the piece in there.

Curt, get a zero gravity screen

They've addressed the issues on the 04-07 1kRR and I'm sure they do on the Gixxer as well.

Good luck, sir.

I talked to Matt at HotBodies and there is a simple solution. Instead of the 07-08 gsxr 1000 windscreen that has the cutout, the racers use an 06-07 gsxr 600 or 750 windscreen. Same mounting points up top with no gap for the running light.

Why would race plastics even have the gap in the first place? Seems a little ridonkulous if you ask me.

Did they say what the purpose was for the cutout being there?

I didn't read all the posts here, so forgive me if this is a repeat.

LP makes a wind screen that covers that area- the Puig you got is for a stock GSXR, LP (Speedscreens) is a little longer there as is the Hotbodies specific windscreen.

With some bikes, like the older 600RR's, I just fiberglassed the area that is open. Very easy to do.

Hotbodies shows a race windscreen, too:

Race Windscreen (Stock Shape) - Clear
