GSXR Race Plastics Question

Folks,
I'm fitting race plastics on an '08 GSXR 1000. I've purchased a Puig windscreen that fits the stock fairing. Unfortunately, on the race plastics this leaves a gap at the bottom of the windscreen where the light above the headlight sits on the factory plastics. There is no reasonable way to mount this little light in the race plastics, so I'm wondering what y'all do. Is there a different windscreen you guys purchase that doesn't have the cutout for that light?

-Curt

Post pics of the new plastics !

Sorry Curt, I have no idea about this, maybe go to gixxerforum??? Isn't there one of those? I have my r1-forum for r1 related topics. Is the gap large? Or just enough to bug you?

Plastics aren't painted yet, so there isn't much to see. The gap is pretty large, perhaps an inch? It is as if I should have bought a different windscreen. I'm going to call HotBodies tomorrow to see what they recommend.

I've seen some on trackdays. . I think the Hotbodies one elminates that little light spot at the bottom of the windscreen if that's what you are talking about. What kinda race plastics did you get?

You can see the small light just below the windscreen on this yellow gsxr.

Hotbodies plastics have the cutout for the light, but no way to mount it.

I'd assume that your race plastics would cover it. I'm bored, so i'll do some research.

Have you decided on who is painting your plastics?

I can see the gap you are talking about in the pic. GL

I'm sticking with a factory looking paint scheme. Pearl white, silver, and black.

I posted the same question on WERA. I suspect the racer guys have seen this before and have a solution. I also wonder if the HotBodies windscreen is shaped differently.

Nope i have nothing. Will the light come out? If so, i wonder if there are screens available that fill in the gap.

Thats a good idea. I'm sure they have encountered this problem many-a-time. Makes sense, anytime you upgrade somethin, the likelyhood of having to upgrade something else rises.
