Ignoring the crank letting go, if you've run it low on oil the head is probably way past its best too,
take the simple route,
good clean engine when one becomes available at the right price then a quick out with the old and in with the new leaving plenty of time to lay back in the sun and sup margeritas

hasn't it been like 2 years? I'm with the others...you'll find a used one locally for only a few more bucks...maybe $600. Why in the is an 04 R6 motor selling for 12-15 on Ebay. , my 94 zx7 replacement motor that was 10 yrs old at the time was $600 and they weren't a dime a dozen.

Local for 600 is out of the question... I've called the local shops and they go for 1100 and up and usually want your engine as a core. That's fine though.. nothing against that at all.

Hit up Romeo36 I think that's how he spells it... he can steer you in the right direction for a used motor.
