Liability only for me. If I crash so bad that I cannot afford to fix it (or me), then I need a break from it anyway... (Just my philosophy)

I actually saw this, I was corner working on turn 7, Im the one that called in on the radio. I didnt even know what to say. I just saw dust out of the corner of my eye, then I saw the bike flipping in the air with pieces flying everywhere, and saw him flipping trough the air ricocheting off the ground, I honesty thought he wasnt gonna get up, but then I saw him get up and look up at the sky like he got the wind knocked out of him or something, I was so shocked to see him get up, considering the punishment he had just been trough. At lunch time I got to see him, he looked ok for the most part, then I saw his bike. She didnt look so good. I was just great full to see him alive after that. Tell him that if theres any way I can help, Id be more than happy to

if this was a cmra bike it was most likely saftey wired, so watch the insurance scam deal claims adjusters are getting quite a bit smarter when they see drilled and wired bolts (even if you cut the wire out the holes are still there.

I met a guy at a trackday who is from Austin.
His street ZX-10R is safety wired/prepped
I don't see what the big deal is.
That's a hint it could be racebike, but if they can't prove it. . . .

As far as I know it has nothing to do w/ the bike, it has to do with the event. If it is not a "timed event" you should be able to show your insurance company that it is a school/rider improvement place. Prove the classroom curriculum, etc.

This is one of those posts I didn't look at but should have. John is someone I've been talking to for a while about trackdays and riding in general, maybe a year or two. I went to Macuso today so my bro could check out the new r1s, he told me about his getoff and said there was a thread on mh "rider down at TWS (Texas World Speedway)" , I was like no , that was you?!?

Good guy, always willing to help me out and give his insight and experience, lil fugger will talk your ear off if you let him too. He is back at work and has some things lined up for the bike, taking it one step at a time. This was his first time on the track on the 09 and funny thing is he was taking it easy when the accident happened.

I saw some photos and I can post em up once I find the link he showed me, he is in good spirits and he was spending the day setting up his suspension, trying to get it dialed in for the race in Oklahoma.

He will be back on the horse before too long. He knows the dangers associated with riding/ racing. He didn't ask for any money, it was nice of a friend to try though. Kudos to you for trying bigbird. I understand everyone else's point of view also.

Correct, that's why I kinda said so what if it's safety wired.
It may hint that it's a race bike but doesn't mean he was racing.
FWIW, I made a claim (with S/F) when I totalled my 05 636.
Told them I was at an Advanced Riding Course in Angleton Texas

John is a very very close friend of mine...i talk to him everyday....hes a real kool knowledgeable rider...and has taught me a ton about what im doing right and wrong on my bikes...hes a real stand up guy that is always lending me a helping hand most of the time without me even asking

after hearing about his wreck i thought for sure he'd be down for a while...but i talked to him monday night and when he told me he would be riding into work the following morning...i just sat there speechless

he still has his zx-6 to ride for cmra or whatever he chooses to do now...but the new bike is a total loss...and i know him and his father are in the processs of taking a step forward into figuring out wtf they do next...the bike was brand new...his dad traded in his 14 for the bike maybe a month ago...so it sucks that he wrecked...but hes a trooper and i know come up with something

thanks for all the well wishes...i know he appreciates em

Badass Birthday present if I may say so! Stand up guy for sure. Good thing is the bike is paid off. He said he found some forks for it, one small step at a time.

Good to hear he is recovering. Sucks that it's an 09 and hard to find parts for. Noble effort on your part BB. What kind of leathers and helmet was he wearing? Road rash and stitched chin Must have went down HARD.

he got stitches in his chin because when he came down he hit hip first which resulted in his head hitting on the edge of the pavement almost like a whiplash type move....6 inches more and he would have hit the grass

i dont recall what leathers he was wearing....but he said something like "3 layers got burnt through and the 4th was pretty close"

he got some decent rash on his hip...but nothing to to bad

Do we have the story on how the wreck played out?
I forgot to set my damper once and I started to get headshake on the back straight but I eased off the throttle and I was good.

I just can't imagine how it could get so out of hand that he couldn't stop it before it got worse
My bike is a headshake king, whenever I forget to set my damper, I get caught in a headshake but I'm always able to settle it down

like I said, I was right behind him when it happened. It was one of the nastiest tank slappers i've ever seen! Right after the bumps on the exit of T5, he went into a VIOLENT tank slapper and got tossed to the ground...it was over in about .3 seconds...no chance of recovering it. It looked like he got bucked off a PBR bull...it was nasty..
