It's probably not just this "one" incident, but it may have been the straw the broke the camels back.
I've been street riding / racing over 30 years and we go through this almost every year at the beginning of the season.
While I agree there's probably more serious crimes our police can be working on, look at it this way:
If an officer lights up behind a motorcyclist and they run, the officer has to wonder why?
Is it because they have warrants?
Is it because they just committed a serious crime?
Is it because they're on a stolen bike?

Running is a felony, something that can give you a record for life and affect everything from your ability to get insurance to getting a job.

Better than 50% of the time I get pulled over on the bike the officer typically:
a) Actually thanks me for pulling over.
b) Either writes me a reduced ticket or none at all.
At that point I usually do DSC, deferred or get it dismissed via an attorney.

Yep, some get away with it, but some don't, and the risk vs reward makes no sense to me.

My 2 cents ymmv.

I definetely agree patrick on everything you said. But say the rider was poppin' a wheelie he know he is going to jail. I think if the city would make wheelies just a ticketed offense more people would stop and get the ticket instead of running.

who you are or might be but if you are on this forum just know that the City is going to start to hunt all sport bikes down
i'll bet if say, a new bodystyle camaro runs, cops wont be harassing camaros.
it's just an excuse to hassle sportbikers.

I have received two tickets for over 100 mph and didn't go to jail with either one.
