Bargain??

I've been seeeing this bike pop up on ebay several times over the last month and wondering why it has'nt sold.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Honda...16435072QQrdZ1

Say's it has over $80,000 invested in it, not to mention all the custom parts made for it. Not that I would consider buying such a beast, but just seems like a steal considering all the money and collectors value attached to it. Is there something bad about buying used race bikes?

There'sno way they spend that kind ofmoney on it.

Correct, not just some thrown together old race bike. This bike was built for one of the best in the business. Just seems cheap to me considering what your getting.

The problem with having something that is so extremely customized like that is if something breaks, it's going to cost you an arm and a leg to get it fixed. Plus, a bike that has had "engine work" done to it, will need to be "freshened up" on a regular basis, typically once or twice per season... that only can get pretty pricey.

I'm sure Patrick can chime in on some other reasons why it's probably not a good investment.

BTW... that's one heck of a tricked out bike!

Looks like they stripped all the good trick parts off of it anyways...and since it's an FX bike, probably heavily modified motor and doesnt quite have the engine longevity of a production bike. Would look cool if I had an extra 12k sitting around, but prob not practical.
