My Honda 929 build Failed the other night.

I bought a 2001 Honda 929 to rebuild, when I bought it I my boss, the owner, believe it seized because of the head. Dropped the block and found the phillips bit had made its way down the velocity stacks and into the motor bending two valves. Ordered the valves and dropped the head off at the shop, 3 months later finally got around to putting the head back on and putting the whole bike together I was very confident in the work. New oil, coolant, and failure. Started the bike took several times and it started the exhaust was open so I couldnt really hear anything shut it off, sealed the exhaust then started up again and can hear a very clear knock coming from the top end I believe and given just a little gas the bike would die or studder down real bad. So needless to say after looking forward to riding so bad a really bad let down. Any guys capable of giving me a hand once I drop the motor please reply.
