Aftermarket 50 frame???

So I have a street legal 50. If I were to buy and aftermarket frame for it, do they have vin numbers/serial numbers? If not what would happen if I stamped my legal vin into it? Anyone? I want an aftermarket frame but want to keep it street legal without all the hassle. Any suggestions?

most frames have a vin stamped on it...

once you swapped all your stuff onto the new frame you would have to switch your insurance over to the new vin... then take the bike to pass inspection... then take the paperwork to the tax office to get NEW plates, etc

it would be just like registering a new car

The stock frame is bending and is cracked where the seat ataches.

switching, stamping, re-stamping, or whatever you want to call it is ILLEGAL, super duper felony dps kick down your door illegal.

New frame=new title

I suggest getting a pitster xjr frame, it will come with a vin and mso that is easy to register. Make sure you tell them you want an mso, and mark the milage as 0 on the mso. Other people have registered vin-less frames, but you have to jump though hoops.

Ya thats what I figured. And I didn't want to deal with all the hoops that brett had to jump. Anyone know what I can do about the frame maybe? I will try and take some pics of where it is broken. Maybe re weld?

if you grind out the crack and weld a NEW root pass, grind out the slag, do a hot pass, grind out the slagg, then cap it you should be fine..

then after that I'd suggest getting the frame powercoated to protect it further from rusting...that thing has a ton of rust on it...or its just going to rot out eventually.
