Russell Replaces The Fred On Speed

Russell Replaces The Fred On Speed

This press release just in:

Beginning this weekend, Motorcycle Hall of Famer Scott Russell will take the role of lead motorcycle road racing analyst for SPEED. Russell replaces fellow Hall-of-Famer Freddie Spencer, whose multiple European scheduling conflicts led to the move.

"We are thrilled to have someone of Scott's caliber on the SPEED team and we appreciate Freddie's years of service to the network and look forward to working with him again in the future when schedules allow," said Rick Miner, SPEED SVP Production & Network Operations.

Russell, known as "Mr. Daytona" after winning the Daytona 200 five times, was the 1992 AMA Superbike champion and the 1993 World Superbike champion.

I remember him doing some interviews/commentating shortly after his retirement. It was the funniest thing, and you could tell he thought so as well. Good guy. I hope he does well.

Scott was one of my idols when i was a kid.. used to see him at tally, and Road atl all the time.. super nice guy... but hes from georgia so the accent is tough to stomach.. and he did ALOT of coke back in the day.. part of what helped hide how smart he actually is
