I figured out that if I asked people who'd just received their pizzas for the "stringy pizza shot" I'd get, eh, interesting pics.

Eating NY Style "Pizza by the Slice"

100 189deleted

2. When you pick it up, the first thing you gotta do is fold it with one hand, then support it with the other. Folding it helps strengthen the ensemble, and the support hand helps hold up the tip, as you let the cheese roll off.

3. It should look like this when you're about ready to take that bite. Now if the slice is still too hot, it will be very floppy at the tip, so you need to use your support hand to keep it from flopping over... like it did in your pic. You will also have that hand on the ready to catch any cheese that does roll off, or pinch it to break it off, instead of having it drip all the way down your chin and onto your plate. Take note of the napkin placed neatly in the center of my plate. More on that next...
Brother's Pizza Pics

4. Here, Bruce has taken a bite of his slice. Take note of where I am pointing. When you fold the slice, all the grease is funneled towards the back end, at the fold. Look closely, and you will see the the beginning of a drop of grease at that location. That is why I placed a napkin in the center of my plate. No need to grab napkin after napkin to dab the grease off the top of your slice before you eat (like you see people do countless times). The fold takes care of all of that. If you notice in the other pic of Bruce, he's got cheese all over his chin. That's because he failed to have his support hand on stand-by.
Brother's Pizza Pics Off his game >>Brother's Pizza Pics

5. Now burning the top of your mouth is almost a given if you bite down too fast. It takes alot of discipline to let it air out before you bite down, because once you taste that pizza in your mouth, resistance is futile.
Brother's Pizza Pics

6. Notice how, in your pic, alot of the cheese has fallen off almost half of the slice! All that cheese is either gonna end up on your chin, on the plate, or if you panic and try to eat it all in with your mouth... you'll soon find out it's burning hot, and thus you burn your mouth. Keeping it folded helps keep the cheese from rolling off, so you can bite it off with your teeth, or pinch it off with your support hand.
Brother's Pizza Pics

End of Lesson. Now go out there and eat that pie!!!.... Pizza pie, buddy... pizza pie.
