Michelin fitted a set of road tyres to Colin Edward’s 260bhp Yamaha M1 at the recent Sepang test and got within eight seconds of MotoGP pace.

I am sure that the street tires could go 5 laps without a problem...I don't think they would last too much longer though. You can do a lot on street tires. Way more than most people's riding abilities anyways. I wonder if those tires are considered DOT race compound tires. I know it says dual compound tires and all. It also says that they are Powers and not Race. So they must be full fledged street tires.

i am lovin my michelin pilot powers! i was running bridgestone bt020's before these (sport touring tires) and all i can say is . what a difference.

here is a funny thought though. i picked up a great book "twist of the wrist" by keith code...which actually advises aspiring racers NOT to use the stickiest tires...the idea being crappy tires get you used to tire slippage, and how to handle it and possibly use it to your advantage...thats pretty advance stuff though...that being said, my next pair might be pilot roads...i kind of miss being able to get loosey goosey in the rear end, which i was able to do now and then on the bt020's...

interesting topic though

yeah...when im not being special ed (i.e. before noon) i get pretty analytical. i like to think things through and understand whats going on with everything...especially when it comes to riding.

i may not be able to wheelie yet, but im pretty close to dragging knee. the proof is the tiny chicken stip on my right side....that clover on memorial drive rox me...lol.

Outstanding. I'm so glad I aquired some good riding skills from the old school. When I get my new bike I know it will be helava easier. Almost like wearing some hiking boots for 2 days, then put on some track shoes, then take of running ( feel me ).........lol Anyway can't wait till our next ride. - Long live the old schools.

sure you can, but thats not the point. its easier to do on sport / touring tires. the idea is to use tires that you can push to their limits for your own level of skill. his book is freakin aweseome, and there is a DVD to go with it...check out their website:
