ECR sucks for grip in the dry.....in the wet.......good luck.

how could some one screw up a new track to have such poor pavement. i'll never go there sheesh I don't want to drive 8 hours to crash.

When it's above 80* temp it's fine all day. The first session of the day can be a wash if there wasn't any cars/ bikes on it the week before, but nothing scary.

The other time I rode there after the pavement fixes it was in the 70's and I had no trouble with traction that day either, but it was about the 3rd session before I didn't slide a bit on the sealer strips. Again though, nothing scary.

so its one of those tracks that needs a little heat to be good. So inotherwords its fine 9months out of the year

off to go crank the buc day parade route wearing my funny helmet on the goldwing. I just downloaded Baby Got Back from Sir Mix A Lot...the girls on the route will be shaking their buttox as a roll down the street.

Have a good weekend tom and everybody.

i have no experience with ECR after 80 degrees....but i will say the traction was getting better as the day started warming up.

i'm assuming after a year when the asphalt breaks up a little bit the traction will be awesome out there.

I don't know man, Angleton, Hallett, and ECR are all about the same age as far as paves/ repaves go and they're all skating rinks when it's wet.

The long and short of it is that when it's a wet race you're gonna see a lot of crashes and faster guys getting beat by slower guys.

Maybe the reason why it's so slick at these tracks is because the oils in the pavement is so fresh? Or the sealer oil is still too fresh? Or maybe the lack of rain hasn't had time to wash all that stuff away?

It's an enigma all rolled up in a conundrum...

well FWIW,i have about a dozen days on this track and i have yet to have any traction "problems" there.never have been there undr 80* though.
the small straight between 4 and 5 does collect ALL the debry form the creek that runs through it when it rains.
i think the problem is that the track has some tricky corners that are blind and off camber(muchhh fun) and if your body position is off or your markers are off,you WILL pay.
i had my very first off road excursion on T3 and Tom is right, run off is a big concern there.
if any thing i will try to make it Sunday with LSTD.

When we raced there last season it was VERY good traction.

I'll agree with the wet comment though, it's slick when it's wet just like the Mercedes Benz Sugar Land Road Course in Angleton's skating rink
What MSRH have you ridden in the wet? Put the crack down Tom, or get some decent tires. The ice rink effect was only in T16/17 before they removed the sealer. About two years ago....

My tires were fine, and it was a skating rink out there- don't take it personally, it is what it is.

Besides, I put a ton of laps on that track (in the "other" direction) before any of the pavement started coming apart and it was no different then when it got wet.

Maybe I'm not the one that needs to "put down the crack".

wow, there must be some hard feeling between CMRA and MSR-H(?).
any time this two come into the same topic it always becomes "awekward" .

Nothing personal about it at all Tom, your just full of and spout it endlessly. As for hard feelings between CMRA and MSRH, it's political from way back, mostly between LSTD and MSRH. Now that you have LSTD owners on the BoD of the CMRA, there will be no CMRA in Houston despite the wants of the members.
