Weather in Slidell on Sat / Sun

Just curious if anyone else is worried about the weather on Sat / Sun at ECR?

I don't know if I want to drive all that way to watch the track get wet :-(

good luck to all you boys and girls if it is raining up there......i crashed the following day after the rain already stopped while almost STRAIGHT UP AND DOWN....barely started to turn it in....and BAM, front tire slid out. funny thing is there was at least 1 1/2 inch chicken strips on the front and back tire! haha

ECR sucks for grip in the dry.....in the wet.......good luck.

ooo good luck!

ECR is a fun layout but i've rode tracks that grip better in the wet than that one does dry!

Not that I care who goes to the track on Saturday there, but to say that track has "no grip" in the dry is just false.

When we raced there last season it was VERY good traction.

I'll agree with the wet comment though, it's slick when it's wet just like the Mercedes Benz Sugar Land Road Course in Angleton's skating rink

I agree Tom. Only been there once and everyone was talking about that. Most of the line is inside the sealer between the curb. I never slipped once running 59's. Not sure what good laptimes are but that felt pretty quick.

59's is a quick pace- not too far off race pace for most in the CMRA last year.

I thought that track was extremely good and I actually would pick it as my #1 favorite over Cresson if the wet traction was better and the run-off areas were grown in.

Besides, I can't think of one new/ newish track that ISN'T a skating rink in the wet besides OHR (which has incredible wet weather traction) and TWS (Texas World Speedway) (which isn't too bad).

Given Texas weather patterns, Saturday will probably be fine- it has to be about 60-70% chance of storms for me to wonder if it's going to rain or not.

But dry traction at this track is very good

I have ridden ECR once and I liked it! The elevation change is a freaking blast! I had my first get off there and my first knee down. I think it was like my second track day or something. I don't remember anything wrong with the grip, it was hot and dry and I think most everyone was happy with the surface.

Now the track was ate up from cars right where I was trying to go, I do remember that but I was so slow I doubt those lines make any sense.

I thought it was fun and will do it again many times to come. I don't ride in the rain yet! I can barely ride in perfect conditions why try the imperfect?

I'm hopeful that the weather is going to hold off..

there were conflicting reports last night and this morning with the weather. I usually jsut watch NBC or Fox for the news.. you would think that since NBC owns TWC now, they'd be on top of things... not so much in this case.

Both Fox and NBC show the jet stream curving above tx and that curve is heading east... We've been below that curve since yesterday and let me tell ya... yesterday was NICE here... the movement of that curve wont cause slidell to be above the curve til saturday evening/night. I'm no meteorologist, but i've been paying attention for years to the weather forecasts. I say the ray is going to stay to the north of us until later on in the day.. probably mid evening... .which is when we'll be finished up anyways.. i can live with the bike getting some rain while on the trailer ride back to the house.

wasn't it like 90+ degrees though?

even with 75* weather with sunlight at the end of the last cmra ecr race in march....that track was still not great on the traction. tires are evidence of track characteristics also....and from what i saw on even some of the fast expert's tires.....they still looked somewhat brand new after their races were done.

from what i hear, the track doesn't really start "coming in" until after 80 somethin degrees with sunny skies.

although that track does have a really nice layout and is fun....those rivers flowing across the track and water seeping through everywhere was no joy. needless to say, i won't be returning back to the track until they do something about those issues. 10+ highsides in the same corner on the same day should say somethin.

No doubt it needs to be warm there- but you're right, 80* is about the right temp. At the races last year it wasn't hot- our trackday Friday before the races saw temps in the 80*'s and I only "threw away" the first session, which is what I normally do anyway.

I hear you on the river thing, but I'm one of the "lucky bunch" who raced Cresson during the endurance race dubbed as "A River Runs Through It". We had two streams one on the straight as you approached Rattle Snake and after Ricochet.

Like I mentioned though, every new track I can think of here has serious traction issues when wet- maybe the pavement age has something to do with it?

ECR is no different than the others as far as wet traction, but the run-off is the biggest issue for me when it's wet.

If you think ECR is bad in the wet, pray for dry weather at Hallett!

Noted for future reference. Had heard mixed reviews of grip at this track.
