when something like that goes wrong it makes you realise how quick they are going.

Nevertheless, a brilliant performance over the weekend in his first ever visit there

Anybody know if he has an injury from this? They never said anything else about it during the race. Monza's next, he needs to be ready.

ďThe bike felt very normal and I was able to get into the lead,Ē he said. ďOn the second lap coming out of [turn] one I just barely touched the edge of the track on the grass and had a big highside. It was unfortunate because I felt like I was riding well and the bike was great. I mean I barely got the bike off the edge and that was the end of the race. Thatís just how it goes.Ē

Spies assessed his chances of catching Haga, who won the second race and is now 60 points up going into the next event at Monza on May 10.

ďThis is not how I like to run championships,Ē Spies admitted. ďIíve had three no points races and basically now itís coming down to I have to be perfect now and do nothing but win races to catch up in the championship.

ďRegardless of the hit we took today Iím still proud of the team and the way Iíve ridden as a rookie in this series. I still want to try to win this championship, but itís going to be tough. Iíve come back from big deficits before and thatís what Iím going to have to do again. Itís gotten pretty interesting pretty quickly.Ē

Spies said he felt fine physically after the crash.
